The cold, recycled leads obviously have a very low success rate. Warm leads are really hard to find on your own and extremely expensive to purchase.
What are some strategies that have worked for those of you in life insurance sales?

Start with people who are still alive.

You pay me a monthly fee and I'll tell you.

All leads have low success rate. Get good at asking for referrals.

Offer introductory rates. Works for everyone else.

Marriage licenses issued? Home sales are posted in public records. Major life events where someone wants to protect their spouse.

The Glengarry leads are for closers!

You gotta get yourself with an IMO or FMO that allows part time agents and generates their own exclusive leads. Because surely nobody else is getting the same lead. They promise!
Seriously though, it’s a tough business to be in, there’s no doubt about it. You have to make a few sales and ask for referrals hard. Each sale you make, ask for another referral. Don’t overdo that though. Treat the customer right, don’t be pushy, actually down sell some features in order to build trust, and the customer will like you and refer you.
Beneficiaries! Each sale you make, ask for the beneficiary’s phone number and ask if it’s ok to contact them to confirm their birthday for the beneficiary selection. Calling that person to confirm their birthday and spelling of their name is not a solicitation so you don’t have to follow TCPA rules for that call. By the end of the call, 50% of the time they’ll ask you about coverage for themselves and BOOM, free lead.

I’ve pushed so many people into buying life insurance that I looked into obtaining a license. It is one of the most underutilized financial tools out there.

I have a very good friend that does this. Get into the education system. He makes a lot of sales there. Good luck.
