I cannot seem to find county court records, other than this MEC system in MIssissippi, where it seems I have to make an account. It also says this is not for the general public. Anybody do this regularly? Thanks.

Deltacomputerservices.com has some of them. Might not be the ones you want.

Depends on the county and what records you need.

Depends on what kind of records you want and from what period. Old ones may still be in the courthouse. I don't remember state archives having that kind of stuff, but they do have a helpful staff that you can call.

Believe it or not, the genealogy databases have a lot of that stuff now. The good ones require a subscription, though your public library probably has a limited account. Universities have database access, too.

Madison and Rankin County have their own website. Go to Chancery Clerks office online. Hinds county. Look on their website and find the address, get book and page and go down there and pull up the documents.
A lot of the counties are on Delta Computer Systems. The smaller counties, Smith, Neshoba have to go to court house!

They are available to anyone. But the accounts aren’t free, which is what they mean.

Yes it is. Set up an account. Only 10 bucks annual fee. Pages are 20 cents to download. I use it all the time. However, if you set it up tonight, you probably won't get your password til tomorrow.

Have any questions, ask me. I know more about MEC than anyone on this board.

If you are looking for county court records, you can access those on MEC except for collections and family law cases. You have to go to the courthouse to look those up.

Thanks. I am looking at an elder abuse/custody situation and I am not in Mississippi, so perhaps I'll have to get someone local to visit if family court records are not online? I never get into family stuff so I have no idea what I'm doing.

i really thought this was interesting. I got married in mississippi in 2009. When i went to pick up our marriage certificate, they had segregated records for marriages (ie black vs white ) through i believe 2004.
