The Apple Card thread got me thinking. Which is the best cash back credit card to have currently?

I use Amazon Visa for purchases on Amazon and Costco Citi card for Costco and everything else.

Should I be looking at the Citi Bank Double Cash card or something else?

Not enough people utilize credit card cash back rewards

Why on earth would you use a debit card when you can use your credit card and just pay it off at the end of the month? We will earn enough cash back rewards for Christmas shopping

I don’t use cash back cards. I like hotel and airline reward cards. More bang for your buck

American Express Blue Cash is pretty nice. I've been looking at switching to it from the Chase Preferred.

6% on groceries
3% on gas
1.5% on everything else.

Personally I do this, but...

Most people aren't disciplined enough to do this. Most people will get to the end of the month and just pay the minimum until they get to the point they are drowning in debt. It's those people who keep credit cards in business and fund all the cash back offers.

Subtle, “I’m a Costco member”, brag.

That’s all true but for people who pay their bills it’s wise to get rewards however you can. Also you get a lot more protection using a credit card if it’s stolen or if you need to charge back for any reason.

Dude, I just recently got a Hilton card. I made like 3 work trips (2 nights each trip) and a 4 week period and I already have enough for a free night. They add up quick when using a Hilton card paying for Hilton purchases.

Chase Sapphire has some good travel perks.

The old Marriott card use to be great, but the new ones aren't nearly as good. Was $80 a year to get the one that gave you instant gold, now it's $450 a year and that is back when gold had the same perks as platinum does now. Gold kinda sucks now, at least you get high speed internet still.

The best cash back card I have is my debit card. I see something I want, I check my balance, and if the money is not there I keep my cash and put the item back.

Now, I used to travel weekly for work years ago and when I did, I got a Hilton Honors card and put all my hotel and travel expenses on it every time. Double, sometimes triple and quadruple points on Hilton hotel stays. I made a KILLING in Hilton Honors points. After two years I was able to take my wife to Rome and stay in the Waldorf Astoria hotel for a week for FREE.

That time it made perfect sense for me but now I just use my debit for everything.

I think that's an absolute terrible approach but you do you.

What if I need a credit card for all of the travel I do?

Should I put all of my work expenses on my debit card?

What's the annual fee on that though?

I've gotten around $300 cash back from my Amazon card over the last 8-9 months. I wish I would've known about the frequent flyer miles deal people were getting buying $1 coins from the government.

It is, I currently have $800 in reward points on my CC and my balance is zero. If I used his approach I would have $0 in rewards points and a balance of zero.
