Which University is harder academically: LSU or Louisiana Tech

Outside of engineering, I always assumed that LSU was the more academically rigorous institution. They have a better national standing than Tech, and LSU has a more diverse set of major offerings at the undergrad and grad level.
I am just curious to see some opinions.

Well they are both better than SU and have better parties so there is that.

I've never understood why Tech is considered to have a better engineering school than LSU. When I've ever seen engineering school rankings LSU is ahead of Tech every time

Personally, I have noticed this myself. I made that clause in my first comment so that someone would mention it. I spoke with a PhD engineer once about schools and he personally proclaimed that Tulane is generally considered the best Engineering school in LA at least in his circles.

You're one of the better trolls the OT has had in a while. I admire your vigor.

First off, apparently you don't know much about Tech's "party scene" because if you did, you know it is practically non existent. When Frats do muster up the means to have good parties, they still have be careful. The events are generally much more tame than what would happen at LSU, and that is heavily enforced.
Secondly, I have seen more posters for events and sponsored parties at SU in one f**king year than I have ever seen at tech during my entire undergrad.

What makes me a "troll"?

Harder? If you don't study, both will be hard.
Both universities are challenging. Both produce quality graduates. Neither one is Yale but both offer great academic opportunities on a regional and national scale.

the only thing the students have in common is that they all applied to LSU

I am assuming you are a "proud" Tech Graduate.
I have a Physics degree from Tech, so I know just how hard Tech really is. Honestly, outside of LSU and Tulane, I dont think any other school compares in terms of difficulty.
I am very glad you stated this, especially the first part. I know alot of succesful people who graduated from Tech, but I also know EQUALLY successful people who went to other places.
Difficulty does not necessarily produce better graduates is all I am saying. Challenging to improve someone and challenging for pure rigor are two different beasts. Depending on your program, this becomes apparent.

I would have loved to go to LSU when I was going to college but tech was closer to home and tech's tuition was lower

I am assuming you could not or simply chose not to stay in a dorm. I stayed in dorms since I had to travel a long way to get to school ( and I dislike the Interstate)
Since I hail from Leesville, it takes me roughly 3 hours to get to Ruston. Leaving Leesville, it takes about 4 hours hours to get to my place in Baton Rouge.
I graduated from Tech, but I do not regret being at Southern. I personally feel it has given me the best education experiences I will ever have.

I am losing the point you are trying to make. LSU and Tech, plus various other state institutions, offer quality opportunities for students.
I have my post graduate work at another university - LaTech had me well prepared.
I think it is all about the drive of the individual once they get a degree....how are you going to capitalize on the time spent in college?
There are some really bright people in this state that have degrees from various institutions:
The sharpest tax law counselor has an undergrad from UL - M.
The best tax credit CPA in the state holds two La Tech degrees.
The best compliance / fraud officer for banking in the state has a LSU undergrad and grad degree.
The best audit CPA that practices in this state holds an undergrad degree from aTm.
One of the best CRE attorneys has a law degree from university of Texas.

All I am saying is that is that just because you dont go LSU or Tech, it does not mean you wont become a successful person.

Exactly. Which is why after graduation I made the choice to go to Southern in order to capitalize on my talents. It is developing me into the professional that I have the potential to become.

None compare to ULL's Engineering or pretty much any academic program (if you ask the right people.)
Posted on 8/19/15 at 3:04 am to geauxtigers6492
I have heard different things about ULL Engineering. Mostly I hear that Tech's is the hardest overall. I assumed that ULL engineering was not as rigorous as TECH or LSU.
Most likely it is on a similar stance with McNeesse.
Southern is considered the easiest for Engineering.
