If Cricket were an Olympic sport, India would win a lot more medals.
Found this link (LINK /) on Google and 2 of the top 10 were Indian.

They are also, by far, the least attractive ethnicity

Nobody cares about cricket and I don't even think they are the World's number 1 anymore.

The other issue BTW is that the reason North Korea wins more Olympic medals than India is because North Korea places an emphasis on supporting sports. So does China. So does Russia and so did the formerly Communist Eastern Bloc. They think that by winning medals at the Olympics, it will provide glory to the nation and thus glory to the government.
India clearly doesn't have that attitude, and I suspect government funding of sports is relatively low. Likewise, outside the major cities like Mumbai and Bangalore, it's a very poor country, so you don't have parents with disposable income who can take their kids to gymnastics class. If either of those things were not true, India would have plenty of Olympic Gold Medalists.

Cricket is popular in India, England, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the West Indies and other parts of the former British Empire.

Plus they just are not athletic. I've worked and been around a lot of Indians over the years and not one of them was athletic in the least bit.

FTR, lifetime tallies from Wikipedia:
North Korea at the Olympics: 16 Gold, 16 Silver, 24 Bronze
India at the Olympics: 9 Gold, 7 Silver, 12 Bronze
But anybody seriously believe that Indians are less athletic and more malnourished than North Koreans?

Yes but except for India, Pakistan and a few others it's not the most popular sport in countries that play it. For England it's probably 3rd or 4th down the list.

It was absolutely comical seeing Indian students attempt to lift weights in my college's ref center.
They would do 10 minute marathon sets of curls where the bar would only move a 1/4 inch the whole time

I was on an offshore rig with an Indian guy once. I would hit the gym every morning before work. He would be in there some days. One of his exercises was standing on his head.

India is made up of multiple different ethnicities. There's a huge difference in culture and often times appearance in North and South Indians.

Also India has the caste system that is super frickednup. While technically dissolved, I wouldn't be surprised if unintended genetic engineering Over the years played a role.

Leander Paes is one of the best individual doubles player in the history of tennis. I don't think I've seen anyone with better hands at the net except maybe McEnroe. He just never had a long term great partner.
I work with alot of Indians and so I hear about cricket. What surprised me is how much the superstars are making. The top guys are making 20+ million a year when you include their salary and endorsements.
