Why did Joe Rogan start doing those "radio" ads in his podcast?

Does he not have enough money already? How many hundreds of millions does one need? I like his podcast but lately between him and his guests laughing at themselves a little too often and those "old People type radio ads" now included in his podcast I may be over it. I have an ad blocker on youtube for a purpose and including these in the podcasts is making it very annoying. 2 ads in the first 20 minutes in one of the latest episodes. It's like listening to Coast to Coast Am, which I haven't been able to do in years because of those ads. TLDR

You literally can fast forward and it skips right to where the ads stop They've also been around for a while.

Thoughts and prayers though

I spoke with him Tuesday, we talked about you. He said he did it on purpose to piss you off because he doesn't want you listening anymore.

I’m sure you would turn down easy money to read an ad for a minute? Companies are throwing money at him. He’d be stupid not to do it.

And yeah, I don’t like the ads that I can’t skip easily but i don’t fault him and it’s not a big deal.

Joe is a sellout. He used to say he was against ads in the middle of podcast because it interrupted the conversation. He signed the Spotify deal and then he stated having ads in the middle of the interview.

The show has had ads for a very long time (remember Man grate and even flashlight before that?) which do not bother me. The placement of the ads do annoy me, especially when he himself said it impacts the quality of the show.

Why do A list actors do television commercials? Why does Nick Saban do television commercials and football analysis? Don’t they have enough money?

So you are saying if you had some type of platform you wouldn't try to maximize your profits? That money is better in your hands than the companies who are paying you to advertise. And if you are that concerned about it just fast forward. I don't because by the time I fast forward, then because I fast forward a little too far, I have to then rewind it a little to get it where its not still on the commercial and I end up still listening to the very end of the commercial so I can hear what exactly they are saying that its not worth it. I can tune out things I don't want to hear so it really doesn't have an impact on my life at all.

IDK why, but its a pet peeve of mine when someone says shite like "don't they already have enough money?". Do you want to put a cap on what people make? You come up with something that makes 100s of millions of dollars, but there is a cap that people can make $50M... So where does all of the money that was made, that you can't receive goes? You want the government to put a cap and then everything that is made after that to be taxed? If you don't like it you can give a lot of it away or do something that is important to you to help others.

Multimillion dollar contracts do pay for themselves.

Either you have to subscribe for an exorbitant fee like p0rn or you take few ads.

If he didn't male money from his podcast, he wouldn't do his podcast. You can always listen to something else

I mean, Joe Rogan isn’t the only person making money when he reads an AG1 ad or whatever. Spotify has to make money to exist dude.

Like others have said, just skip them. They’re almost always exactly 15 or 30 seconds so just hit fast forward once or twice.

I believe you can listen to Rogan (or any other podcast) without a subscription on Spotify.

I’m pretty sure what you’re paying for is access to music…which is not interrupted by ads.

Spotify subscription cost is comparable to Apple Music. Pays for licensing all the ad-free music, but probably would have to be a higher cost to pay for contracts like Rogan's for the podcasts to be ad-free too.
