So mud and water don't get on your jeans. Also, that's how they end up when you put them on quickly
I also tuck my pants in when I'm walking through the woods and the ticks are out

Let one good spark pop down in there and they'll quit wearing them like that.

I've done it to dry my boots out. I take them down once they're dry though.

I've tucked my pants into my boots if it's wet outside and I'm going in and out the house to keep the bottoms of my pants dry or to keep red bugs/ticks out. However, I don't walk around in public like that.
The guys who do walk around in public like that just want you to know how "country" they are. They're the same guys with CB whips on their truck (likely not having the actual radio), a skoal ring they intentionally made, and a fish hook in their hat.

Because I grab my boots and slide them on and go about my business. at some point during the day I might fix them but irdgaf if it bothers anyone. If its muddy, ill make sure they are tucked in. When working outside I may change boots 2 or 3 times. Im not taking the time to make sure my pants are on the outside properly.
I have fixed them before walking into a store or something but its just an attempt to look neater

but if you are wearing your work boots like this around town you are probably a giant douche

If I'm only wearing them for a couple of minutes, I'm not going through the business of making sure my jeans go around my boots. Then, sometimes a couple of minutes turns into a hour and I forget.

Pretty clever, actually.
The type of boots you're talking about are cheap rubber work boots. No one cares if they get stolen and no one would steal those type of boots.
They stick them between the truck bed and back window upside down so that rain won't soak the inside of the boot and to make the boot easily accessible. Farmers/workers don't wear those type of boots very often, so they put them back there where they are out of the way but accessible at the same time.

I do it at the camp if I'm going in the woods to check on anything but that's about the only time

I do it because I drive to my farm a few times a week and the above. Mine are Mucks and I did have one pair stolen. And I tuck my pants into them when working the farm or hunting. Otherwise I just tuck the inside of each pant leg into mt Georgis Boots. I'm only half douche.

No, with the price of oil these days the rigs are shut down. No ones working on the drill floor, They're fricking sheep.

I have never understood this either and have asked a bunch of my guys around the shop why they do it and no one ever has a straight answer aside from being lazy.

Wear my white shrimp boots with my pants tucked inside to keep pants bottoms from getting dirty or wet when washing cars, RV, etc. After spending considerable amount of time in universities (about equal to my 1-12 education) it makes me one with the world.
