Why does Apple purposefully distort images/gifs/videos when sending between android

Sending android to android or apple to apple is fine, but if you send apple to android or android to apple the image quality is purposefully distorted to look awful

It's a restriction of MMS. Apple to Apple has iMessage, Android to Android has RCS. They don't place nice with each other

It's Apple's way of expanding their market share. Nobody likes being the individual who can't get clear pictures/videos from their friends.

Relatively small picture sizes don’t get compressed too much so you shouldn’t notice much of a difference. A very large image file or, God forbid, a video, is a disaster.

I had my family get on WhatsApp for our group messages. It sucks that I can't really do that for non-regular conversations with other people, but most of my media sharing is done within a family group text anyway.

My family uses WhatsApp also because we have Apple and android users. I like that the pictures and videos of my grandkids save automatically to my gallery.

This is the one big reason I really like FB messenger. I'm on android but My ex wives use Iphones. So when I get pics/video of our kids doing shite in sports/theater/etc It's much better to send via FB Messenger.
