Asking why banks don’t celebrate Easter and Good Friday is like asking why police stations don’t celebrate George Floyd Day

Dumb take, but I agree it should be holiday just like the banks in Nola shut down for Mardi Gras.

Wall Street closes on Good Friday btw

Separation of church and state was cherished by our founders.

Also, Easter is on a Sunday.

If this is of true importance to you, then sacrifice your vacation days and celebrate. Thus, you can show others that you hold these days sacred. You could example?

My firm still has Good Friday as a Holiday, for now. Things are slowing becoming more and more corporate but worst case I'd expect them to just make it a floating holiday day. Where you can take good friday off or use anyday as your "floating holiday.

Easter is on a Sunday. Sunday is not a work day so there is no need to make it a work holiday. Have no idea why Good Friday is not though.

but if the other federal holidays are on weekends, isn’t the holiday moved to another day? Usually a Monday? That couldn’t be done for Easter?

My company observes Good Friday. In fact, I have a 4 day weekend this weekend because of the holiday. We work a 9/80 schedule which means I have every other Friday off. This Friday is my 9/80 off so the company gave us tomorrow off in observance of Good Friday.

You need to get a passport. Below is from ChatGPT. I work in big ole global company and have people in my org all over world. Know this 1st hand and why I posted.

Many countries around the world observe Easter with a public holiday or a workday off:

Europe:
• United Kingdom: Easter Monday is a public holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, though not in Scotland.
• Germany: Both Good Friday (Karfreitag) and Easter Monday are public holidays.
• France: Easter Monday is a public holiday, but Good Friday is only observed in certain regions, like Alsace and Lorraine.
• Spain: Good Friday (Viernes Santo) and Easter Monday (especially in Catalonia) are public holidays.
• Italy: Easter Monday (Pasquetta) is a public holiday, though Good Friday isn’t typically a day off.
• Portugal: Easter Sunday is observed, and Easter Monday is also a public holiday.

The Americas:
• United States: Easter itself is not a federal holiday, but certain states and employers may offer time off. Easter Monday is recognized as a public holiday in a few states, like in parts of the federal government.
• Canada: Easter Monday is a statutory holiday for federal employees, and it may be observed in some provinces.
• Mexico: Easter (Semana Santa) is widely observed with Good Friday being a public holiday, and Easter Monday is a public holiday in some regions.

Latin America:
• Brazil: Good Friday is a public holiday, while Easter Monday is not.
• Argentina: Easter Sunday and Good Friday are observed, with many businesses closed.
• Chile: Both Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays.
• Colombia: Both Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays.

Australia & New Zealand:
• Australia: Good Friday and Easter Monday are both public holidays.
• New Zealand: Good Friday and Easter Monday are also public holidays.

Asia:
• Philippines: Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays, with many businesses closed.
• Hong Kong: Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday are public holidays.
• Sri Lanka: Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays.

Africa:
• South Africa: Good Friday and Easter Monday are both public holidays.
• Kenya: Good Friday and Easter Monday are also observed as public holidays.

The observance can vary greatly depending on the country’s traditions, religious practices, and whether it’s officially recognized as a national holiday.

Good Friday is a good day to suffer at work. Easter Monday should be a holiday to eat all the candy the Easter bunny brings.

Sorry, “bank holiday” is a term used more around the world to reflect “day off” (govt recognized official day off).
