Waiters or waitresses?

If he’s trying to bang waiters he’s got a bigger problem on his hands than $60k/year

I will shoot you in the face for 10k.

(Jk. Puts it in perspective though doesn’t it).

You’re blessed.

More to life than money man.

What are you looking for.

I’d find something more in line with the path I was searching and try to learn

When you end up with a resume that looks like a Jackson pollock painting people are gonna shy away from you.

You’ll deal with constant turnover, being short staffed, and perpetually training people. Sounds like a nightmare.

Absolutely true. I never worked harder for less money than in the restaurant business, and never regretted leaving it.

What would the OT do?

The amount of hours you will have to spend at the restaurant, or traveling around to your multiple restaurants will make you feel underpaid.
And then, there are your employees…
But, if you have no family life and love eating fast food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you might enjoy it.
Just know what you are getting into.

Imagine running a manufacturing plant and being charge of a physical plant worth millions. Your raw materials are highly fragile and cannot be stored with any longevity so you risk losing and will lose some of your inventory. Now also imagine you must depend upon a work force that is by and large uneducated, unmotivated, is not in the position as a career or for the long haul, is paid wage that can be matched anywhere and the plant next door will hire them today. As bad as this sounds, imagine a shortage in that labor pool and how all these factors work to empower your employees to basically do what they want and who have the mentality you should be lucky they showed up for work at all. Your factory production schedule calls for 20 widgets per day but your employees only produce 10 a day and do not care. You find yourself not managing but basically being a high paid part of your production line. 80 hr weeks are not unusual. If all this sounds good then the restaurant business may be right for you.

A long time ago a friend managed a McDonald's. He hated it, not because of the work but because of the bottom-of-the-barrel class of workers he routinely dealt with (it's not like new Harvard law grads are lining up to apply to sling fries and work registers).

If you are okay with slogging it out long enough to promote into a regional position, then go for it.

This is pretty ridiculous to tell someone making 60k a year, “Hey man you should try and double your income.

Don’t ever let that thought in your head ever again. You decide what income you need to live the way you want.

You bust your arse every day to get there. There are too many good jobs in this country to not be able to get what you want.

Now, with that said- Every single person I have ever hired that couldn’t make that happen was generally lazy, arrogant, angry…it was never them. All the meanwhile, their peers were advancing.

There are good companies out there. Don’t stay at a crappy one.

But it doesn’t happen overnight….like the Cypress Hill man said.

managing folks who have no motivation to work, won't show up to work, won't call when they show up to work and text on their phone all day when they do show up to work and make you work 80 hours a week because they don't show up to work to cover for them......you're better off making $10K less.

Can you say what sector: QSR, fast casual or fine dining?

I actually think this question would make a big difference for me, personally. If it's a nicer spot, absolutely. Fast food? Eh, doubt it would be worth those headaches. Since you called it a "food joint" I'm assuming it's not too upscale.

Plus, how many hours do the managers at these establishments work? Would you be the one that has to fill in when you're short staffed? Do you have the personality to work with the types of people that work at restaurants.

And you would be in a position that has to deal with the general public on a regular basis. If you are not already doing this, you will quickly find out that an extra $10k is not worth that hassle

This. $10k can be made for less hassle. He could get a side hustle, do extra seasonal work, or hook up with Antique Tiger and sell shite on EBay

I would go be a cop, fireman, or that prison guard job. How about a government job? Military? Learn a trade.

Hell you could cut lawns for cash and make better.

I know a retired sheriff deputy in Texas. 8K a month pension.
