Eventually it was sold off but even after they were sold they were dominant. I think it had everything to do with Mike Early who ran WWL.

At the end of a broadcast, when Phil would come on, you knew he was chewing out our parents for something. You didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t your fault. It was theirs.

Their weather people are pretty terrible. Chris Franklin the chief meteorologist down plays everything and that has bit him in the arse a few times. He is like the complete opposite of Margaret Orr. He was real bad on hurricane Ida and especially Zeta. I remember him saying he could see the whole thing fizzle out or the moisture be removed from the core the day before landfall. Well it underwent rapid intensification and had a bullseye at New Orleans.
