re: Your IRL encounters with celebrities

Comedians: George Carlin, Lewis Black, John Pinette (RIP), Kathleen Madigan, Alonzo Bodden (the latter two appeared on Last Comic Standing, then were on different tours). Can't say enough nice about Bodden and Pinette, especially. But they were all very friendly.

Jack Black on two separate occasions when filming, and in between his work. Before meeting him I always thought he was a bit of a prick from what I'd heard.

Huey Lewis after a show several years ago also. Haven't had a bad celebrity incident.

I saw Ryan Gosling at a grocery store. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Rode Delta up front and Danny DeVito was across the isle, talking about a short dude.

I met Demi Moore at a friend’s house in LA in 2013. He’s a celebrity photographer and has shot basically every actor/model/star in the universe. He was doing a photo shoot for my daughter, 17 at the time. This was a low key party at his house.

Anyway, in walks Demi Moore. Eventually someone introduced us and she proceeded to be one of the sweetest, most genuine and humble people I’ve met. She pronounced her name “DeMEE.” She asked questions about me - a nobody from Alabama - and listened, never acted disinterested or snooty. She looked fantastic as well. She had just split up with Ashton Kutcher.

After about 10 minutes of us talking, someone asked if a car could be moved to let someone out. It was hers. She said, “KingOfTheWorld, would you move my car for me?” Of course I did. Some Mercedes SUV. Nothing special.

It kind of changed my view of celebrities. Some are really cool people.

Met Courtney Vance in an elevator in New Orleans years ago.

He was cool.

Walked past Warren sapp on bourbon street during the SB in 2014.

Bumped into Marcus smart at a party in college he said “excuse me homie”

Got a head nod from Fournette walking past him.

Met Elfrid Payton playing pickup in Lafayette.


Walked past Rob Ryan when he was DC for the saints in the FQ off of Decatur.
