Have not seen pictures of the men training in Paris. Women are there and training, in some pseudo-retro looking outfits. Unmistakably American and that's good. If you followed the team during the days of Marta as head coach, she would have the team in things like purple and pink. You'd have no idea they were Americans.
One of the leaders in USA Gymnastics now is Alicia Sacramone-Quinn. She is married to former Notre Dame QB, Brady Quinn. If you hear her name during the broadcast and wonder why Quinn sounds familiar, that's why.
The other face you may see or name you may hear is Chellsie Memmel.
They were teammates on the 2008 Olympic squad.
Both are World Champions.

GENERAL AND DETAILED SCHEDULES, AND HOW TO WATCH 1 of 3
PART 1: GENERAL SCHEDULE
Gymnastics gets started early. Artistic Gymnastics will take place between July 27 and August 5.
The basic flow is this:
- Gymnasts get to Paris well ahead of the Olympics to acclimate and begin training, often at local facilities.
- They conduct podium training starting about 2 days prior to the competition.
- At the outset there are Qualifications, which determine the highest scoring teams and individuals.
- The top teams move on to the Finals and top individuals move on to finals for specific events (all-around, vault, floor, etc)
- Team finals are held and then the individual event finals. Generally there is a day off between each major block of competition.
Gymnasts get to Paris early and will begin training in Paris well before the Olympics. Podium Training will take place in the days before the opening ceremonies. This is where teams get out there in a pretty formal training session. Judges and many others are present. They will have specific leotards / uniforms / outfits, to wear. They don't just stroll out there like a typical gym session back home. They get limited time, it's very structured.
From NBC, regarding viewing Olympic Gymnastics:
Every day during the Summer Olympics, NBC will offer fans at least nine hours of daytime coverage of the Games’ most exciting events, including live finals coverage of swimming, gymnastics, track and field, and more. Considering the time difference (Paris is six hours ahead of the U.S.’s eastern time zone), fans will be able to watch the day’s most popular events live on NBC in the morning and afternoon. NBC will also deliver an enhanced Olympics primetime show each night, providing three hours of must-see entertainment.
In addition, every event from the Summer Olympics will be broadcast live on Peacock, which will be home to an innovative Olympics hub that will include "curated rails of live and upcoming events, dedicated in-depth hubs for nearly 40 sports, medal standings and an interactive schedule.
Last time I checked, Peacock is $7.99 per month.

Venue information from NBC
The gymnastics competition will take place at Bercy Arena, which is a large sports hall that was once the No. 1 concert venue in France that welcomed many international artists.
The arena was built in 1984 and was designed by architects Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat. Located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, it is known for its distinct pyramid shape and sloped sides covered with grass. In 2014 and 2015, the arena underwent extensive renovation to modernize its technological infrastructure. Those developments made Bercy Arena capable of hosting a number of athletic events from equestrian, judo, handball, tennis, ice hockey, skiing and motocross events.
During the 2024 Paris Olympics, the arena will host two major sports - gymnastics and basketball - and three disciplines one after another within a short span of time.
How big is Bercy Arena?
Bercy Arena will have a capacity of 15,000 for the Olympics.
How much will tickets cost?
Tickets for gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics will range from 24 to 690 Euros (between $26 and $747 USD) at face value, depending on seat selection and event. Qualifying events all range between 24 and 260 Euros, while events like the women's team final will cost between 125 and 690 Euros.

Some trivia and interesting bits of information
LSU Tigers gymnast Aleah Finnegan qualified to the 2024 Paris Olympics (representing the Philippines) at the 2023 World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. She was the team leader at LSU this year, and took them to a national title.
No country has ever sent two Olympic All-Around champions to the Games, on the same squad - until this edition in Paris - the US sends Simone Biles (2016) and Suni Lee (2020) to Paris.
Japan sent home their best female gymnast because she was caught smoking - it's against the law in Japan to smoke if you are under 20, and she violated that.
Laurent Landi and Cecile Canqueteau-Landi are the coaches for Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, and Joscelyn Roberson. They are French, so the Paris Olympics gives them the opportunity to go home. They have a facility in Texas, where these girls train. One of the French gymnasts spent some time there training, before going back to France and she'll be with the French team at the Olympics.
Are there banned gymnastics moves in the Olympics?
There are several banned moves in men’s and women’s gymnastics.
In men’s gymnastics, the Code of Points states that a vault is invalid if a salto (a forward flip without touching the ground with your arms) is performed in the first-flight phase, or if the athlete has straddled legs in the second flight phase.
In women’s gymnastics, the Code of Points states that vaults with sideward takeoffs or landings are prohibited, as well as dismounts on uneven bars where the gymnast takes off from two feet, dance elements with a cross-sit landing on the balance beam or, in floor routines, acrobatic elements with sideward takeoffs or that land in a forward roll.
In women’s gymnastics, there are also elements that have a reduced value due to safety concerns, including the Biles, a double-twisting, double somersault dismount off the balance beam, as well as the Biles II, a Yurchenko double pike vault.
Who has the most gold medals in Olympic gymnastics history?
Larisa Latynina of the Soviet Union has the most Olympic gold medals in gymnastics — man or woman — with nine of her 18 Olympic medals being gold. Latynina went to 3 Olympics. You can only get 6 medals at one Olympics, so she has the maximum you can get, and 50% of them are gold.
How many Olympics has Team USA won in gymnastics?
On the women's side, Team USA has won the gold medal in the team competition three times (1996, 2012 and 2016). On the men's side, Team USA has only won the gold medal once (1984).
How many gold medals does Simone Biles have?
Heading into the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles has four Olympic gold medals — all from the 2016 Rio Olympics. In Rio, Biles won a gold medal in the team competition, as well as in the all-around, vault and floor. Biles has seven Olympic medals total.
Who are the most decorated gymnasts in Olympic history?
Nikolai Andrianov of the Soviet Union is the most decorated male gymnast with 15 Olympic medals. On the women's side, Larisa Latynina, also of the Soviet Union, holds the record with 18 Olympic medals.
The first time a perfect score was recorded in the Olympics was 1976, by Nadia Comenici. She and Nelli Kim combined for quite a few at those Olympics. Kim represented the USSR and Nadia represented Romania. Together they got all the gold medals in the individual events. Nadia on bars, beam, and all-around. Kim on floor and vault. The perfect score at that time was thought to be impossible so the score displays did not have enough space - Nadia's score was initially displayed as 1.00, which led to a lot of confusion at first. She was 14yrs old at the time.

What are the competition phases in Olympic gymnastics?
There are four phases of Olympic gymnastics competition:
Qualification - No medals awarded
Team Finals - Medals awarded
All-Around Finals - Medals awarded
Event Finals - Medals awarded
For the women, event finals consists of individual competitions (spanning two days) on four apparatuses: vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Vault and uneven bars will take place on the first day of event finals. Balance beam and floor exercise will take place on the second day.
Event finals for the men also span two days. On the first day of event finals the men will compete on floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings. Vault, parallel bars and high bar will take place on the second day.
Event finals for both the men and women take place on the same day, alternating between the men's and women's apparatuses in Olympic order. For example, event finals will begin with men's floor exercise. Once all eight athletes have finished, the women's vault final will begin. The men's competition will resume with pommel horse, followed by the women's uneven bar final and the men's still rings final. The second day of competition will begin with the men's vault final, followed by the women's beam final, the men's parallel bars final and the women's floor exercise final. The artistic gymnastics competition will conclude with the men's high bar final.
What is the rotation order in Olympic gymnastics?
The order in which gymnasts rotate from one apparatus to the next, often referred to as Olympic order, is as follows:
Women: Vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor
Men: Floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar
All gymnasts will follow this order regardless of which apparatus they start on. For example, if a gymnast starts her competition on the balance beam, she will rotate through the events in Olympic order, finishing her competition on the uneven bars.

These are the women's teams that will be at the Olympics:
United States
Great Britain

Which men's gymnastics teams qualified for the Olympics in 2024?

Italy
Ukraine
Spain
Turkey

Germany
There are numerous individuals that qualify but will not be part of a team competition.
Most notable might be Kaylia Nemour from Algeria. She will be a favorite on the uneven bars. She is incredible at that event. I believe she is likely to make it into the All-Around final as well.
How do you qualify for Olympic gymnastics?
There are several ways that gymnasts can qualify for the Olympic Games. The first route is for an NOC to qualify a full team. This can be achieved by placing in the top-three during the team finals at the 2022 World Championships. Then, at the 2023 World Championships, the top-nine eligible countries from the team finals (meaning the three countries who qualified in 2022 are removed from the list), will earn a berth to the Olympics. That is a total of 12 women's teams and 12 men's teams.
Individual athletes from NOCs that did not qualify a team have several possible routes to qualify to the Olympics as an individual.
For the women, a total of 23 individual athletes qualified through the qualification round at the 2023 World Championships. 15 nominative spots (the top 15 all-around placements from NOCs that didn't qualify a team) were awarded based on the all-around qualification rankings, plus one nominative spot for the highest-ranked eligible athlete on each event. Additionally, three non-nominative spots for the highest ranked NOCs that did not qualify a team were awarded. The NOC is responsible for deciding which athlete this sport is awarded to.
For the men, a total of 17 individual athletes qualified through the qualification round at the 2023 World Championships. Eight nominative spots (the top eight all-around placements from NOCs that didn't qualify a team) were awarded based on the all-around qualification rankings, plus one nominative spot for the highest-ranked eligible athlete on each event. Additionally, three non-nominative spots for the highest ranked NOCs that did not qualify a team were awarded. The NOC is responsible for deciding which athlete this sport is awarded to.
Individuals can also punch a ticket to Paris through the 2024 FIG Apparatus World Cup series. A total of eight women and 12 men will qualify by being among the two highest-ranked eligible athletes on each event.
Individuals can also qualify through their continents respective championship competition (the European Championships, African Championships, etc.) by being the highest-ranked eligible athlete. A total of five individuals will qualify to Paris through this route.
Two more spots (one man and one woman) will be awarded through the Tripartite Commission. In order to be eligible for a Tripartite Commission quota spot, an NOC has to have an average of no more than eight athletes in individual sports over the previous two Games.
The host nation is also guaranteed at least one athlete. Since France did not qualify a men's team to the Games, the NOC will receive one non-nominative individual berth.

It's exactly as the name implies: these people are experts at trying to kill themselves on a trampoline, just as every red-blooded child in America has tried to do since the trampoline was invented.
Every baw buys a trampoline for his kid. Right of passage for American children. It would only be surprising if people from Louisiana were not at the Olympics for Trampoline.

Some attention on the fact that France is trying to make the Olympics eco-friendly and there is no A/C in the village. Appears USA Gymnastics has teamed up with BedJet to help cool things down for sleep purposes. I think many of the teams are also bringing portable A/C units as well.
The BedJet attaches to any bed and uses air combined with a patented Cloud Sheet to rapidly wick away body heat and sweat trapped in the bed for fast cooling relief and improved sleep.

In years past, it was common for gymnasts to not stay in the Olympic Village - I think because so many of them were children and the Village is known for some pretty adult behavior. It looks like this time our gymnasts are in the
Village. I'm not a big fan of this due to security reasons.

The story about the Japanese gymnast being kicked out for smoking and drinking is crazy to me.
Also, thanks for setting this up.

Yeah, I don't know if it's just a team rule / cultural thing or if Japan formally expects the athletes to obey Japanese laws, even when outside of the country. It's a strict culture. I imagine there will be a fair amount of shame for her back home.

A view you don't often get to see, showing the gymnast (Suni Lee) spotting the beam during a series.
