Core Hydration Classic was this past weekend. Next is US Nationals, then Olympic Trials, then off to Paris.

Biles won the all-around by a good margin. Olympic team seems very much up in the air right now, however. National championship will be very important in sorting things out.

Suni Lee - Auburn gymnast and 2020 Olympic All-Around champ is still there, battling back from some health issues, but she seems very solid.

Former / Current SEC gymnasts are in the mix as well. I think one is headed to LSU and three will likely head back to UF after the Olympics.

Biles assuredly will dominate at the national meet, and lead the team to Paris. Team will be a favorite for gold.

Nothing will change the FACT that she quit on her teammates on the World Stage during the Olympics...especially after we learn it was because she was upset after finding out her BF admitted that he didn't know who she was before they met. I don't want quitters on team USA...

That's certainly a hot take. Regardless if that was a reason for her mental health decline, she couldn't perform safely. She was getting disoriented in mid-air while vaulting, which could have lead to a serious injury or even death. Killing herself over a gold medal wasn't worth it.

It didn’t have anything to do with the boyfriend.

But she mentally couldn’t handle the pressure of everything and she quit. She used the disorientation thing as an excuse to make it seem ok to just quit becuase you’re mentally unable to handle the pressure.

This board is the place for gymnastics experts who have never competed in, or even watched the sport.

You have to remember that

I think it’s weird everyone here is so much more upset with her than her teammates are, and on top of that when she didn’t compete there was someone who was able to fill in for her. It’s not like we left some big name at home in order to bring her to Tokyo.

When she was on vault, a commentator, Tim Daggett, who is a former Olympic champion said, "whoa" as she was coming down, and when she landed he said, "she had no idea where she was".

She had to abandon the competition for two reasons: serious risk of death or injury, and the high likelihood that her scores would have been atrocious without any awareness of where she was in the air. If she went out there and looked terrible, every one of the internet dbags that chastise her would then be saying she should have dropped out for the good of the team.

Interesting they dont just lump nationals and the trials together like track does. Any reason for that? (keep in mind i know nothing about gymnastics)

So if she was at such high risk of injury or death, then why did she come back and compete a couple days AFTER she withdrew?

Simple reality is that she was fricking up well before the team events. She messed up again during the jump and rage quit and just walked out because she knew she wasn’t going to dominate. Instead of graciously competing till the end and not winning, she left like a sore loser.

I guess we'll find out. Hopefully it's doing well. Certainly you aren't pulling against her in this regard?

Terrible take. She's played (and won) through pain you couldn't even imagine.

Because it's not a permanent condition? This is really a concept that has to be explained to you?

Simple reality is you're a dolt.
