Looking to buy a pirogue for fishing the swamp by my house. Would mainly be me and equipment but I do have two little boys who im sure will wanna go in a couple years.
What size should I go with and are there any particular brands the OB recommends? Not looking to spend a fortune so dug outs are a no go.

I have the small 10ft model. It is pretty tippy. I don't have back issues but my legs fall asleep after 15 minutes or so.

I've had three chapmans. If you like lower sides, get a chapman. If you're not comfortable in a pirogue, get a pawpaws.

I have both issues.
The smallest I will go is a Jon boat with a comfortable seat with a back on it.

How stable are the chapmans? I want to be able to stand up and fly fish some.

Don't get a pirogue then. They are just for getting you from one place to another. Get a 10ft flat boat

Bought this second hand from a guy that said it was made in Slidell. Pretty comfy little fishing/paddle seat. Fits over fiberglass seat .

Sorry to say, but I think there pirogues suck for the few I saw. Yes, they are well built for a glaass, but just not a true well built pirogue To float my boat.

Don't get a pirogue.
I am with Hammertime on this. There is no way I could stand up in mine.

Don't call yourself a Cajun if u can't stand up in a pirogue

I can stand up in one all day long. Never been fly fishing, but from what I've seen, it would be pretty hard going back and forth in a pirogue

You need something other than a pirouge.
A 12ft shite boat would be a much better choice. Pirouges are for killing ducks, not fishing

If you can stand up in a pirouge, you don't drink enough
