damn that's a hell of a deal, I saw a few on sportsman for sale. I love my boat but if I had to get a new one it would be a blackjack.
my buddy is possibly selling his POS Epic for one

They are the old top water charters fleet boats. All upgrading to the 25's

That's what I figured. Bryce owns Topwater Charters and he is selling his 2008 hull with a 2012 motor, but based on what you say, they are unloading the whole fleet of 224's

If the majority of your fishing is inshore and you want to do some inshore why not just get a 24' bay boat? That's what I have used for years in Venice, and it has landed tuna, snapper, AJ, and lots of other stuff along with tons of inshore.
My view is if it's too rough for my bay boat I likely don't want to be out there anyway. Hard to nock a smaller cat for this also though, with the 72" I pilots you can even put a trolling motor on them.
Lastly... the 28' American
That's my next boat......

The cheaper kenner/mako/blazer 24s I've seen lately all need repowering, trailer work, rigging.
I'm curious if the 22 blackjack is as good in a 2 foot head sea as the old 24V.

try to find an old 24 Kenner VX
I tried to get them at that time to custom build one for me. I wanted a full transom to install a gill bracket. Would of been a nice rig for near shore/offshore fishing.
OP, a 25' Contender could do what you want.

Both Hell's Bay(coming out soon) and Islamorada Boatworks have 24 foot bay boats.
I have not been in the Hell's Bay yet......the Islamorda boatworks bay is pretty sweet and has some Key's guys using for Florida Bay backcountry as well as going out to the reefs.

Very similar boat that I've always wanted if I had a family and a camp. I'm a big fan of inshore fishing and have friends I can take offshore trips with. But if I had a family and a camp that I was constantly making speck trips and the occasional snapper trip, I'd want a Gravois 24' with twin engines (I'm not going offshore without twins personally). Basically something like this (old pic I found from THT). Know a guy who used to charter out of one. Seems to be a deeper V boat than your typical bay boat, and with the outdrive, measures closer to 26'.

If its too rough for a 24 bay then do you really want to go out? If its too rough for a 24 bay you need at least a 27 ft deep V or 24ft cat to want to fish that.
Again though, if you want something that takes chop better than a 24 bay than its not going to be a good inshore boat. There is no boat that is good offshore and enjoyable to cast for reds and trout. None.

Depends on what you consider inshore. If you are up in the marsh, then yes, I understand that point. But if you are say inside the islands of Southeast Louisiana, you are inshore, and can very comfortably speck fish out of center console offshore boats. Lots of charter companies use them. Then there are the aluminum boats that are just a little larger than bay boats that give you somewhat of a deck for "inshore" fishing, but can get you to that first set of rigs to drip a line for some snapper. I don't think anyone is trying to get a Marlin chaser and a flats boat in one.

They are sweet boats.... Aren't you looking at 80k new though? Maybe more with the twins?

Wait some of y'all won't go snapper fishing with a single engine boat? Lol

I personally know someone who caught a marlin from a 24' Blazer Bay. He would fish the islands and inshore for reds and specks, then run to the near rigs for snapper routinely out of GI. One calm day he went trolling and caught a marlin. Now, he is a little crazier than your average guy, but it's been done.

If a good high pressure has set in, I will go a good ways in a 24' with one engine.

Pretty cool to do what he did, but a 24 ft Blazer will never be considered a flats boat.

I don't understand it either. I take care of my engine and pick my days. Probably once a summer I take it 30-35 miles out of dauphin island. Make regular 10-20 mile trips. If it breaks down that's why I pay sea tow.
