re: Fuyu Persimmons for Deer in MS

I have no idea about that variety you are looking at but we have a LOT of wild ones at my place. If you want to come get some in late September/early October you are welcome to. I have successfully potted the seeds and grown and planted them quite a bit. They are slow growing however. ...

The two mentioned already are about as good as it gets down there. Peace Marvel is still around and is one of the guys who helped pioneer tuna fishing in Venice, although he is doing a lot of sword fishing now he still chases tuna. Lastly if you haven't looked into it much prepare yourself i...

You may have trouble spraying something to kill the horse nettle and not your plots. However we have it in a lot of places it's hard to get rid of if you only have it in one area I would either spray it or pull it up by hand while you still can. it spreads pretty easily and can really be a pro...
Agreed, I love being on a tractor cutting grass and them showing up to eat the bugs jumping out of the grass. Generally I like all of the kites, swallow tail and Mississippi they are all great fun to watch....

That seems super low to me. This is my fourth year planting JV with a drill. The "normal" hulled seed I planted at a setting of 33 on my small seed box which was similar to red clover and was approximately 8-10#/acre. With the hulled stuff I had to get it out of my small seed box all it did was...

You will be fine on glyphosate the 2,4-D could be an issue with its residual. However by the time your seeds germinate you will likely be fine. Will be an interesting experiment to say the least. I think you will see a pretty decent germination rate. ...

What did you spray? That would determine if safe to plant or not? Roundup has basically no residual for planting you can plant same day you spray. 2,4-D has a longer residual, 5-7 days wouldn't be recommended/would be on the early side. ...
Submitted a trust and certified on 11/20/23... still waiting.......
LSU just needs to figure out how to win the close games under pressure. They figure that out this weekend and they can absolutely get a series win. They need to fire on all cylinders as well that hasn’t happened enough this year. ...

It was clogging after passing out of the box into the seed cups. They would clog quickly and a couple clogged from the base of the tube all the way up to the seed box. Putting it in the main seed box was the way to go by far. ...

I'll bump this to pass on a lesson from the weekend... The vetch seed that seems to be most readily available this year still has the hull with it where normally it's just the tiny seed. That larger seed did NOT work well in my small seed box on my drill. We ended up mixing it with our other se...
Wrapping up the season today. Took my neighbors boy yesterday as little hammer is in concussion protocol. Not a lot of gobbles but got one to come in and do the deal and my youth couldn’t get his gun off safely in the excitement. I ended up shooting him as he was running away. Hopefully we can ...

We planted last week on our land that doesn't flood. We made the decision last summer to go 100% Regenerative. Drilled green into standing fall plots. Drop tine Summer Nourishment, Summer Reload, Summer Squash and Caroina Perennial. Then we crimped it after planting then two days later crimp...

We got a bunch of rain last two days but my place we have that's in the hills should be dry and we have gone full regenerative over the last 12 months there. We are using Drop Tine Seed and will plant their Summer Reload, Summer Nourishment, Summer Squatch and Carolina Perennial. When my lease...

No let me clarify that for you... 3 flowers in a 5 acre field over 3 plantings over 3 years... I have sprayed pre emergent, bought clearfield seeds so I can spray for weeds and the deer just anhialiate them. Its absolutely nuts. My wife always asks for a sunflower field and the only way ...

Good luck I plant a lot of food plots (will start planting again this weekend! Can’t wait!). I have tried the last three years and the deer have eaten my sunflowers better than anything I have planted. I have gotten a total of 3 flowers in three years in a 5 acre stand. The only ones I have had suc...
