Cajun anchor mounts

I built a few aluminum mounts for Cajun anchors this week from some 3/8” plate left over from my current bay boat build. What do you think?

I had one made by panther on my 17 foot key West. Came in very handy. There was a clamp at the top where you could lift the anchor and clamp it and ride around with it and not bring mud in the boat. I think the same anchor might work with your bracket.

Could you post a pic? I’d love to add something like that to my flat

That’s a good idea, something like a bicycle seat post cam clamp.
I could also weld a 2nd pipe on with a capped bottom, or just put a pin for the bottom.

First off, I think you’re a pretty good welder. I put mine in the rod holders on the side of the boat, but a lot of bay boats don’t have those.

i like it too, very nice job. i was going to suggest some sort of clamp as well to keep it from coming out.

I built one too for my boat, but I made it big enough to stick my push through. I can anchor in 8-9' of water. Pushpole it 12' aluminum.

I've used DIGIN ANCHORS for last 4 boats. The 10 Fiberglas works best for our area. Very well made very affordable.

Drill a hole near the top of the pipe and weld a nut over the hole. Use a threaded rod of same diameter as nut with a T handle. Set your anchor height and tighten down on the T handle.

Beautiful welds. Congratulations on your welding skills!

Thank you. I’m a naval architect at a shipyard and taught myself to weld. This is my first bay 23’ of my own design. The plan is to build a 40’ catamaran for spearfishing next year.

What’s your welding setup? Looking good, especially for aluminum.
