Any reports from the surf? My dad has wild hair up his arse to go out there, even though we have a bay boat. If I'm driving from BR anyway, is it worthwhile to only surf fish?

It’s been nonstop rough through April due too constant winds. So not a lot of reports. However the time of the year is right depending on conditions. Sooo . . I would make sure to check wave height before going without a boat.

Windfinder

It’s free. I absolutely do not plan a trip to the coast without checking it first.

Even with calmer winds, it’s early for the trout to be stacked up in the surf. I’ve caught fish in mid latitudes moving from marsh to the coast to spawn the past 2 weeks. Bring your boat if you do go and fish the bays and lakes.
