Those who wear felt, do you have a preference and why? Maybe you favor another mfg?

I have a Stetson Skyline in Silverbelly and really like the hat. Try both brands and see which you like the best.

I like my Cavendar’s Silverbelly 6X a lot. But it’s the only felt hat I have owned.

Bailey still making them 20x's? If so that's the winner.

They were popular on the 90s in straw.

Ive had a resistol for 20 years I like a lot. I thinq as long as youre buying a higher end hat, you cant really go wrong with one of the top brands. i wouldnt consider anything under a 20x

I have a couple Stetson and a straw Resistol George Strait. They are all decent hats, definitely no red flags.

That said the best hat I own is a Smithbilt of Calgary Alberta, which is kind of like the Fort Worth of Canada. It's a huge horse and cattle town, even though a lto of folks might not know so. Absolutely great fit and quality. Slightly better price due to exchange rate and lower-profile brand name.

Personal preference but a Resistol is hard to beat. Stetson as well. But there are other good brands out there.

Stetson.

For me, just a better overall hat that fits better and holds its shape better/longer.

I have a Resistol that has gotten kinda flimsy over the years.

I will say my girlfriends family has a really old cattle ranch in south texas and she has her great granddad's stetson he wore for years on her wall and she still wears it sometimes and it is in great shape for being extremely old and worn. It is straw, but take that for what it is worth.

One thing I've been told, and I'm not an expert, is that the "X" system is not equal across all hat makers. I don't know how true that is.

The smithbilt is $1600 for 100x white hat (the signature hat of Alberta) so that works out to $1200 US.

I think it fits better than the Stetson but everybody's head is different and they can alter hats so it's a really personal choice.
