Hollow Point Ammo/Magazine options for 9mm carbine that feeds reliably

So the hollow point ammo I have right now is kind of junky. Now that more options are available for ammo I was thinking about Hornady Critical Defense. The shape seems a little closer to FMJ (which feeds much more reliably with my current setup). Also if anyone has any magazine suggestions that would be great. I'd love to get some glock brand stick mags but at $40 a pop I'd like to avoid that if possible.
My magazine's currently are pretty cheap Ammend2 mags so I can't imagine they're helping the feed issues but I think one of the main culprits is the ammo as it struggles to feed in other mags as well. This is for a home defense gun so I'm trying to get as reliable a combo as I can.

What kind of carbine do you have that doesn't feed HP rounds? Glock mags are the most reliable mag out there. The 40 round mag be expensive, but they work and that's what counts for a defense gun. Of all things I would not cheap out on mags.
I've seen a lot of 9mm PCCs at USPSA matches and the most common and reliable run glock mags. I run the 40 round glock mags with Taran +10 magplates and rarely have a malfunction.

I have yet to purchase a firearm that doesn't cycle Federal HST ammo. Even my LCP cycles it flawlessly, and it jams with anything else I run through it.

If it's doing it with different magazines, it could be the feed ramp itself. 1911's sometimes have that same problem with hollow points because the feed ramp is very steep. You could always polish the feed ramp with a Dremel tool.

$40 for a magazine that will last decades??? I don't see the problem?
I personally would just run something like a flat nose 147g bullet out of a carbine, I tried all kinds of JHP ammo through different PCC and Machine guns throughout the years and nothing was 100% reliable. 147g flat nose was so reliable that it became my machinegun load, super and subsonic, and that will put a nice hole in whatever you are shooting at too.

I’m with everyone else. Pony up for the Glock magazines. I have like 4 or 6 of them and wouldn’t use anything else.

Man if he thinks glock mags are expensive. Wait until he sees the price of MBX glock mags! Lol.

Have magazines that are worth more than his gun... I just try to never do the math on ammo $$$, that SHOULD be the most expensive part of you gun purchases.

I thankfully don’t have any that expensive. My most expensive ones are 20 rd STI for my 2011

I've had good success with the Sig hollow points, and also HST like mentioned above. I try not to shoot my 30rd mags of HP due to burning through money.

Rewording.
Isn’t the problem with 9mm ARs that they don’t have a feed ramp designed for 9mm hollow points?

A lot has changed in the PCC world in the last few years. It's all about the manufacturer of the gun. Most people have issues feeding when they try to build their own. It's not like building a regular AR15 where everything is just mil spec and you can slap it together.
I've only built 2 9mm and I used the same manufacturer (PSA) for the bolt, barrel, and receivers. I've never had a malfunction, but to be honest I don't shoot it all that often.
There are plenty of companies making super reliable AR9s. My JP GMR15 has right at 9000 rounds through it, and the only malfunctions have been from my hand loaded ammo.

If you can find Cor-Bon Powerball ammo, that should feed well. A lot of 1911 guys use it in .45 because it feeds good on those steep ramps.
