Amy recommendations for places on the water where we can catch reds, specks, flounder, etc? Would be great to have somewhere in Venice or Hopedale etc…

Think about Grand Isle as well

I’d look at grand isle. They have some camps on the bay side, and you can go fish off the beach.

Venice the majority of the year really doesn't have a place to bank or dock fish. If the river is very low and it's the fall you can find a place and there are a few culverts I see people fish from but it's VERY limited.
If going to a pace with no boat Grand Isle is probably far and away your best bet.

We stayed at a place in Toledo bend with a dock but we only caught bream and catfish.

Grand Isle is your best bet. Plenty of spots to fish off the side of the road between Fourchon to Grand Isle, old LA-1 from Fourchon going back towards Leeville, Elmer’s Island, and surf fishing on the beaches. And you can find camps on the bay or cheniere side right on the water and fish off the dock there too.
If you have access to a canoe or kayak, most of those roadside spots are good to put in and paddle around the marsh since its protected and you don’t have to paddle far.

i also rented a place in toledo bend with extensive dockage 10 feet deep - caught nothing - fished with two guides both said fish were holding at 15 feet and thats where we caught them - moral just because there is a dock maybe no fish

I could probably spend a week easily doing just this.
