I need a good red dot scope. I will also entertain ones with infrared or night vision but they may be too pricey for now.

Also any other attachment recommendations such as tactical light or grenade launcher.

JK about the Grenade launcher.

Sort of.

Trijicon Reap-IRMS-20-2 640x480 Mini Thermal Weapon Sight

Then you need a silencer.

Or the Steiner CQT as somebody posted the other day. Fine sight.

Out of stock right now but this is a great AR optic that won’t break the bank

Ok let’s focus on scopes 1,000 dollars or less

AimPoint pro? It's big and heavy compared to what I've seen since I got mine a few yrs ago though.

Well don't ask about thermal, night vision, and grenade launchers if you ain't an OB baller.

For red dots on a 1K budget I'd go with Aimpoint micro or Trijicon MRO. I did just shoot a gun with a Steiner DRS 1X red dot the other day and it was very impressive. It will most likely be my next red dot.

I have an astigmatism so red dots aren’t the best for me. I have a couple of LPVO scopes and will be getting another soon.

I have a Trijicon Accupoint 1-8x28. It’s an amazing scope that gives you the ability to reach out 300-400yds if needed and has an illuminated reticle with 1x for 100yds and in.

I think you can still find them if you look but it was under $1000 when I bought it.
It’s now the credo or something.

No it has only a rail to mount scope

I could actually get a 37mm launcher for under 1k but it wouldn’t fit on this rifle I would need a M16 or M4 platform which I already have. But I could only fire smoke or flares I don’t have an ATF permit to own explosives, though I’ve considered going through the headache to get one.

I honestly never priced infrared I didn’t know it was so expensive. I knew good night vision was but thought maybe there was a cheaper brand that works ok but not great

I put a 1-6x Low Power Variable Optic on my AR-15 and would highly recommend considering that.

To answer your question I went with the Vortex SPARC 2 on my AR-9 as a solid, mid-priced red dot out to 100 meters. I like the EOTECH a lot, but they put you around $500+.

I would also get some MAGPUL MBUS iron sights at some point, they will mount on the rail.

ETA: I missed the $1K budget. Go with a LPVO for that range or an EOTECH holo red dot with a flip-up 3x zoom.

Was it modified? I'm not aware of a Ruger AR556 that doesn't have front sight.

With a that budget you may want to go to try some out . Or watch some videos of tactical trainers talk about what they use . If I had your budget I would get this LCO.

I have a Ruger AR-556 and it is a really good basic AR.

It comes with a pop-up rear sight that works well. I added A Vortex Strike Fire red dot and really like it. You can get them for under $200 and comes with a lifetime replacement warranty.

Good quality scope.

Vortex

Edit: The Ruger is the one on the right.
