Man eats what would have been Louisiana state record for sac-a-lait

During a trip with his good friend from high school Glenn Landry, Daigle tossed his line with a night crawler on the end near a fallen tree in the lake and immediately landed a fish like no other either man in the boat had ever seen.
When it was in the boat, they couldn’t believe the size of this sac-a-lait (white crappie) and when they got it back to scale it came in at a whopping 4 pounds, 2 ounces and held a length of 17 inches.
quote:
For perspective, the state record white crappie was taken in May 2010 by Tim Ricca, coincidently, in Lake Verret and it weighed 3.8 pounds.
quote:
The Oct. 1 trip for Daigle and Landry also resulted in 1-pound sac-a-lait, a nice catch in its own right, but it paled in comparison to the 4.2 pounder.
The fish, later eaten by Daigle and his wife, would surely be a state record, but because Daigle never had the fish weighed on a certified scale, meaning it may not become an official state record.
“I have all the papers,” Daigle said. “But the certified scale is the hiccup. I did everything on two digital scales. If I would have gone to Rouses to get on one of their scales to weigh the fish, it would have been certified. I am going to call the state and see what they want to do.”

I'm sick of people holding their fish towards the camera like that. If they're trying to make it look bigger then maybe it's small to begin with.

I would have done the same thing. If I caught a 20lb bass it would be cooked that evening.
I don't fish for sport. I fish to catch food because I like the taste of fish. I'll throw a small fish back but those big ones are coming home. Stupid to throw it back.

truth, they got an 8 lbs bass they hold 2" in front of the camera so it looks 4ft long and there is no frickin perspective to actually see what the fish "really" looks like
i think they do it because those TV guys do it to make their fish look bigger as they tell the camera that 3 lb bass is a 7 lb bass

here is a tip guys, if you have a big fish and you shove it into the camera at arms length then everyone is assuming its a 2 lb fish you are lying about or you wouldnt have to try camera tricks to make it seem bigger

His elbows are bent. How the frick do you want him to hold the fish, right up against his chest??

Get it certified. Take measurements for replica. Then eat it.
Hard to do it the opposite way.

What if you just lay it on a 48qt cooler? Didn’t have a scale but it would go at least 8 lbs I think.

Bit changes the perspective but since we know that we can deduct 4-5 inches and a pound from what it looks like.

No way that’s a 4lb crappie.

Even those that fish to eat. Your logic is arse backwards. The smaller fish taste better. Why throw away the better tasting fish.

If they both fish that much they should have known what they had and got it weighed. That's a damn nice Sac Aux Lait either way you look at it.
