We make the evening hunts on Sundays also.

Price sucks but I’ve come to peace with it.

Land is an investment. You can choose not to take care of your investment, but that isn’t the best idea.

Look at your regs for the velvet season. $10.00 for residents, and $100 for non resident. for the Velvet season permit. I agree it it may be due to CWD, but it is not due to the velvet season. Like I said my license has gone up long before they even thought of a velvet season.

There is no velvet season permit for non residents, there is only a deer permit which they must pay if they want to hunt deer at any time. CWD testing is mandatory during the velvet season, and the price went from $5 to $100 for non residents when the velvet season was established. If you don’t see a link between those two then I’m not sure what to tell you.

It’s considered the velvet season permit now instead of just a deer permit.

It went from $5 to $50 to $100 in I think 3 years, which coincides with velvet season.

Once again, mother nature does not need your help, she needs you to stay out of the way.

Correct, it jumped from $5 to $50 the same year the velvet season went into law. This year it was $100. There has never been an option for non-residents to opt out of the velvet season, it has always been bundled with the deer permit which shot up at its inception.

Count your blessings. Not everyone can afford what you pay to hunt in those 3 states.

Ok thanks for the information. Per the Daily Leader in 2023, 223 velvet bucks were tested, and 4,586 during the regular season. So I find it hard to blame the velvet season solely for the increase . I do acknowledge that the velvet season is brought on due to the increase in CWD in the state. If I recall the increase from $5 to $50 coincided with CWD entering the state, but I could be wrong.

Not worried about what you think Mother Nature needs. I need right of ways cleared and roads maintained.

Fine, just don't call it "necessary costs of land ownership".

My family owns close to 300 acres in Claiborne Parish and we have to buy out of state licenses every year. The land has been in our family for damn near 100 years. Damn $300. It's bullshite. If you own the land you shouldn't have to pay an out of state license in my opinion.

Lets ask the OB this...

Do georgia and alabama have the same issue with florida deer hunters going up there to deer hunt and conversely, alabama and georgia people going to florida to fish?

I purchased a lifetime Alabama Hunting license back in the early 80's. I wish I had bought the fishing also. They were both $100 back then. We moved to TN last year and live on my wife's family farm now. Land owners who live on their land do not need a license anymore. I had to buy out of state for about 10 years but no more!

Yeah, it isn't $300

The Sportsman's license which covers everything is $570+ with fees.

just a big game license is $300. Have to add $100 deer permit to hunt deer.
If you want to use a primitive weapon, that is another $75 those don't include the fees.
