Need a rod holder solution for a dock

Will be going down for a lake weekend at a rental. Typically bring a few catfish rods and throw them out all afternoon. The place we are renting doesn't have any rod holders on the dock. It's basically just a plain flat dock where I'll have the rods.
Got any DIY ideas to keep my rods in. I have wood and PVC but I'm having trouble figuring out how to anchor them. Don't want to screw into someone else's dock.

Screw them into an icechest or something heavy that you own, preferably with wheels so you can roll it if it's heavy.

I do have some 24" clamps from Harbor Freight

just use hose clamps. Or zip tie some to a milk crate and then zip tie that to the dock

Go buy a couple 5-gallon buckets from HD or Lowes, screw your PVC to that, and then fill them with water on the dock to weigh them down.
Alternatively, fab something with the wood to attach the PVC to, and use buckets of water to hold the wood down.

If the dock has pilings you can do this...
Just bring a strap.

Just bring a strap.

There are no piers above the dock deck anywhere?

No posts or pillings.
Might go the bucket route but paranoid I might be further away and come back to nothing

Get some of those molded rod holders, a screw gun, some deck screws and a washer. screw into a cross piece.

I'm really trying to not be a dick and just screw to the dock that isn't even mine.

You better watch them closely if you don't secure them. I've lost half a dozen rods from my dock when my concentration lapsed. I think most of the culprits are channel cats.

Get a milk crate and zip tie some 1-1/4" x 13" long PVC pipe to it. Put something heavy in the crates, set your drag lose and use some offset circle hooks.

If they have existing screws, back a few out and install a bracket into the same holes..,then attach some bare risk to the bracket and then rod holders to the material. Replace ax you found it before you leave

Use these to strap down a bucket or crate. You could also fashion something that functions the same out of small pvc and paracord.

This might be the most OB photo I've seen yet. A $300 dollar cooler with three rods/reel combos that can't cost more than $20 bucks a piece. Hell the lures are probably more expensive than the fishing gear.

I sell robo cups at sportsman shows. The bottom unscrews so they double as a rod holder and will clamp on any vertical pole from 1/2" to 2". Many clamp it on an ice chest with a handle.
