Found a large piece this past weekend. Split it into 2 inch slivers. Will light with a match and burns hot. Little smoky but imo the best fire starter out there

Then what did you do Daniel, stick it up your butt?

I have one that is so dense and hard you cant even crack it with an axe...I knock of a few slivers after about 20 swings and it is enough to light all fires. I have had it for 7 years.

When I was a kid, Daddy and I would drag in a "lightern log" every fall and it was my job to chop kindling from it. There is a certain way to cut with the axe to get the kindling, too. Whenever I came to a "lightern knot", that was a very special bonus. Didn't need near as much kindling if our log had a lot of "lightern knots".

I quit dragging them out cus my podnuhs think it’s fun to watch a whole lighter knot burn in the fire ring.
Not going to lie a hunk about the size of a microwave is a impressive fire!! Big azz fire !!
Kind of forget about the time I was in a church group kind of like Boy Scouts called royal rangers. I won a bucks knife for a fire starting competition.
It was a string about one foot high over a fire that was to be started with one match I was prolly 9yrs old. I whittled a pile of shavings prolly stacked them 8in high and smoked everyone else.
Man I wish I still had that knife

You have to leave the sec hate on the sec rant.
I had an aggy follow me out to the Poli board one time.
It’s just not good etiquette.
They don’t really go for that over here.

I had a piece in a deer stand Sunday and was shaving slivers off with my pocket knife and handing them to my daughter for her to light. She was mesmerized.

Greatest free fire starter ever. We always had a pail of cut up slivers ready for use.

Fat lighter. Got a sack full in the garage that I start all my fires with. It really is amazing.

This applies strictly to him. He is such a trolling tool on the SECrant he deserves this reaction on all boards.

Well, there wasnt any shydt being spread on this board until the rectum showed up with his remark about shoving a pine knot up someones backside.

Was talking to a friend of mine in Arlington and he said Texans call it fat wood. Kindling, pitch or pine knot was what I grew up with.

I got 2 five gallon buckets full at my house. Works Everytime. I know where a 30 ft tall and as big around as you can reach is. The remains of one of the biggest pine tree I've ever seen. My teenage son wants to cut it up in small pieces and sell it.

Dad always called it "pine lighter". Still have about 50lbs of the stuff he gathered over the years.
