Recommendation on Offshore Fishing Charters in May or June(Louisiana)

Hey, I have a several questions.
1. Is May or June a good time to go?
2. What guide service should we use?
3. I have only done offshore fishing in Florida for vacation. Where is the best place to go in LA during this time of the year?

May and June are great months to go offshore in Louisiana. The biggest issue with offshore fishing is the weather. 15+ mph winds make it very sporty out in the gulf. The later in the summer it gets the more fishable days there are. Reel addiction charters out of fourchon is who I would go with. You will catch a lot of fish.

Is inshore good at this time of the year?

Yes inshore fishing is on fire May and June. Arguably the two best months to trout fish for sure(my two favorite months). For inshore fishing I would pick Aaron pierce out of fourchon. I can’t speak to the status of lodging availability, the hurricane took its toll.

Cory is the man. Talked to him last week to book our annual trip and he is already starting to fill up. He always prioritizes his cancellations from the year before and Ida cancelled a ton of trips.
But you will catch a load of fish. The guy has a vendetta against anything with gills.

If you are doing serious deepsea fishing, make sure you charter a boat at least 50'. Best fishing out by where the oil rigs are. You don't want to go out there on a smaller vessel.

Coastwide Charters out of Venice is a great one. Eddie Burger (Fish venice), Paradise Outfitters,Tripletail Charters, Intensity Charters, Go long Charters, Deep South Charters. Lots of great captains in Venice and awesome fishing. If I was going out of Fourchon those guys running Down the Bayou Charters straight up smash the reef/deep drop fish and tuna. Impressive hauls

We go overnight in a 37 Freeman and fished Big Foot a few years ago. Only issue is that if you have 3-5' seas your trip may get cancelled.

Huh? Unless you charter a sport fisher , no charter has a 50+ft boat in Venice or fourchon/GI. shite, I’ve been out to Pioneer (Walker Ridge) in a 31 contender

That is true but the endangered Red Snapper is usually out of season when you can actually get some decent seas for a stretch of days where it isn't drop what you are doing right now and lets go like it is in May/June when there is one day when the seas aren't 4-6's.
It may be just me but at this point but I'm basing most of my offshore trips on when Snapper is in unless I just know we can get on a Mangrove bite.

June is good time, tuna bite can be good, snapper also in season. Weather is calmer in general.

My arse.
Look up the Double Nickel guys. They'll take care of you.

Like I said. Unless you charter a sport fish, no charters in Venice/fourchon have a 50ft+ boat
Absolutely no reason you need a “50ft boat to do serious offshore fishing”

Is it a good time for the red fish also?

Do you have an idea of what species you'd like to catch?
I've fished with "Down the Bayou Charters" in Fourchon a few times and have always done well. Same with Paradise and Mexican Gulf out of Venice.

Yes. I'd say May gives you the most options for species available inshore and offshore

Who would you recommend for some good inshore fishing ? Looking to hit reds and specks !!!

Hit GI area too May and June for inshore. I'm going with some guy called " Capt John's fintastic charters" mid May. I have a boat but someone got me this as a gift.
