YouTube Review

Comparison to a standard 856

Apparently, these are hand fitted, assembled, etc. by one man in at the Taurus plant in Bainbridge, GA right across the river from where I call "home". Comes with a TSA approved Pelican case.

A buddy of mine just bought one and suggested it to me (even though he ain't shot it, yet). The thing about Taurus, Smith, and Ruger is they look "blank" to me. Mainly the barrels. I like the lines, grooves, cuts that Colt puts into their guns.

My buddy plans on carrying it so I guess it should matter too much what it "looks like" since it'll be considered a tool and not something that's meant to be gawked over.

Altamont wood grips, btw.

Taurus 856 Executive Grade (MSRP $689)

Standard Taurus 856 (MSRP $341 up to $440)

11 lb DA trigger. No thanks. I don't need a 5lb trigger but a 7-8lb on a DOA would work.

Another immediately noticeable issue was that a full press of the plunger jams empty cases up on the too-wide grips, which in turn jams all the cases in place. Once you learn to just give the plunger a light tap, the chamfered chambers do the rest to make sure the cases fall free. This same wide grip issue precludes the use of some speed loaders, though speed strips still worked ok. I have to think that if this revolver was given a real workout in the design process, this issue would have been noticed and addressed by using different, narrower grips.

That's why you don't buy a Taurus.

That's weird. maybe they can sand that part of the grip down.

Their 3G and 3GC pistols are excellent for under $300.

The finish can rub with time and holstering but still a great firearm.

Several 1000 round reviews. I've shot the 3G and would have no issues purchasing one. Especially for a lease or truck gun you're not tonworried about bearing up.

Thought about pickup up 2 of them for my sisters on more than one occasion.

I’ve had only good luck with Taurus. I buy them bc they’re inexpensive and look good. I really enjoy my full size 357 revolver. So much that I’m seriously considering buying a Taurus 44 mag.

But then I just became aware of the Canik rival in stainless steel and suddenly I need that too.

I keep a Taurus Ultralite snub nose 38sp in my truck. Had it for years, no issues what so ever with it. That's all I got...

I just picked up a 3GC for a truck gun. I’ve been riding with a S&W model 66-2 .357 for over 20 years. When I saw what they’re going for on Gunbroker, I figured I needed a cheaper gun in case it gets stolen.

The guy at Lafayette Shooters said the Taurus usually gets a bad rap, but he said the 3GC is a very good gun for the money. I’ve shot it a handful of times and really like it so far.

For a handfitted gun, the gaps in grip are pretty hard to look at.

Yea man. Not sure why I got 3 down votes but that where they make that firearm is in a new facility and they've gotten great reviews.

Shot em and they felt and did great. You can pick em up for 289 here local if ya bring cash.

Bought a Taurus GX4 9mm last year and shot it for the first time this past weekend. It would shoot the first round and eject the brass and it would cycle in the next round but would not fire. The slide would close all the way. Even tried different ammo. Bought it at Nichols in Leesville, called them and explained what was going on and they said bring it back and they would send it back for me.

Because you said something favorable about Taurus and the OB loves to hate on anything that has "Taurus" engraved on it. I bought a Taurus G2c a few years ago just to see how "bad" it was. With rebate, it was <$200. I don't like it's "mushy" trigger nor the small external safety, but it handles well, fits my hand nicely, is reasonably accurate and "goes bang" every time I pull the trigger. I carry it when I'm in the woods or hunting. Historically, the G2/G3/G4 has been a pretty good product line.
