Trails around/in Baton Rouge

My son is 3 years old and loves doing things outdoors. I've been taking him to the bluebonnet swamp nature trail and he loves just running through that whole area. What are some other places I can take him in and around Baton Rouge? What about other places in the state? I want to try and take him to a new place every weekend, assuming we don't have any previous obligations.

Look into the state parks. There aren't any super-close to BR, but they all have trails (I think). Tickfaw State Park may be your closest.
You've got a new best friend. Congrats.

Tickfaw is a nice hike, assuming it's been restored since the flood.
The Blackwater Rec Area up on Hooper is nice also. I'm not sure how much you have to deal with the bike guys though.
There's an interesting trail up at the St Francisville sports park. I think there are a couple of different length routes.
Almost forgot...There are a couple of loops at the Highland Road park on the observatory side of Highland. One is very short, maybe 1/2 mile. The other one is a little more rough.
Check the BREC site. A few parks have short trails in the woods.

Try the Port Hudson battlefield. About 6 miles of trails through the Civil War encampment.

Hooper Road Park
Tunica Hills C Trail

There are trails at the Burden Center if you're looking for something close and easy. Also, try Waddill Wildlife Refuge off Greenwell Springs Rd. Might as well hit up the zoo since he's only 3.

Waddill Refuge Outdoor Education Center in BR. Took my hunter's ed class there. Got a few trails through the woods and a couple fishing ponds.
Clark Creek hiking trail in MS, north from Tunica Hills. Might be a bit challenging for a 3 year old though due to elevation changes.
Jean Lafitte/Barataria Preserve south of NO. Nice trails to hike and some boardwalk over swamp. High odds he'll see some interesting wildlife and probably a small gator or 2 if its not too cold.

We've been there for pictures. Wife's family is from there.

You can download the All Trails app for free on Android and iOS. You can find a lot of trails on it. Also, there is a book that can usually be found cheap on Amazon or Ebay, 50 Hikes in Louisiana. I think I bought it for under $5.
