Bonine seems to be effective. Best thing I’ve seen at curing it is weed.

stay above deck as much as possibl

I fished a lot when I was younger. Spent quite a bit of time offshore. Then went to work in the oilfield and had to go offshore for training. Spent time on several rigs in pretty rough seas. Never go sea sick.

Then one training job was on a jackup and I had to take a crewboat. Horrible weather, so I had to stay below deck on the ride out and probably 8'-10' seas. And then it came. Not so bad that I was throwing up, but I suddenly realized what other people felt. As soon as I got on the stable rig, it was gone. But man was that awful. I will always at the very least try to be in an area with lots of windows to keep my bearings in the movement and outside, if at all possible, in rough seas.

We always use promethazine gel to rub on our wrists.

I'm the opposite. Weed will make me sea sick on a flat lake.

Bonine for me. I can use scopalomine but some ppl have terrible reactions to it. Hallucinations etc, there have been law suits, go figure.
As others said, limit booze especially liquor

only had to turn around once but I was sure if I didn’t the dude was gonna die. Never seen anything that bad.

Extreme seasickness can actually be fatal. But it is rarely something that happens in the kind of seas and weather you are going to head out for an offshore trip in a recreational fishing boat,

never got seasick in my life then one day slept in a bunk on way out in rough seas, as soon as I stepped out I was green for hours. Next trip got the patches. Worked great. But spent half the time in the couch inside napping all through the trip.

I’ve never been sick but didn’t want to chance it on an expensive offshore trip. I take a Pepcid And Dramamine/meclazine before leaving. I take a sprite with me in addition to waters, Gatorade. For some reason the carbonation and flavors settle my stomach. Then for breakthrough I bring some zofran pills.

What I have traditionally done before fishing offshore is get drunk the night before and show up at the boat hungover the next day.

Which doesn’t help.

Do not lay down to take a nap on the boat ride out. That will make you sick. That’s the only time I’ve gotten sick offshore, and I got real lucky too. I threw up for about 5 minutes and then I was fine. I don’t know how either, cause I always heard once you start throwing up, you’re usually done for.
