South Louisiana. Freshwater marsh. It dried up this summer and this stuff started growing.

It looks like some kind of vetch to me but hard to tell from that pic. If it is I would think it would draw ducks.

Definitely not Willow.

Maybe Vetch. I’m trying to get a better photo.

At first glance I flashed back to my days of trying to beat coffee weed while farming in the swamp.

Well this is interesting because many years ago we had it and used to call it coffee beans not knowing what it was.

Also, many many years ago our “pond” used to be cattle pasture. But now usually holds a couple feet of water (unless we have a major drought)

Good luck with the ice if it ever gets cold. That vegetation is a bitch for ice, but probably not a huge deal if in south.

Doesn't look like vetch and wrong season. Looks more like sesbania.

It looks like what I call coffee bean. Not sure of the real name. It’ll grow 6’ tall.

Looks like coffee weed from that pic. Sesbania is the technical name. Strong odor of it’s still green when running through a combine. I have extensive experience

If you get a better picture, download the iNaturalist app and let it figure it out and post the results. That app is amazing for ID’ing plants and insects.
