As for your “peaceful” Hindus. Do some research on the Thugee culture, and their worship of Kali, the deity/god/demon that was built in Sugarland is of Hanuman, who happens to be the chief protector of Kali. Kali is most associated with destruction and time.

You obviously know very little about the Hindu religion. Its a peaceful religion, now if you want to talk violence, we can discuss the crusades......

Hanuman is the great protector. Here in Trinidad I damaged my eye and had to go the hospital for surgery. The doctor walked in and introduced himself..."Im Dr. Hanuman"....my wife looked at me and said...Well thats a good start!

In other words you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the laws that govern our country. Let me give you a hint. The laws that govern this country aren't at the whims of your personal preferences just because you happen to practice some variation of the most dominant cultural religion. And they never will be. If that insults you maybe this country isn't right for you.

So there are two separate debates at hand. You are stuck arguing from a very “legal” lens whether or no the statue itself violates some “law”.

Outside of it potentially being a zoning issue (I have no idea if it is or is not), yes I would agree that by the current consensus and interpretation of our laws on both a federal and state and local level, this statue is probably legal.

But I have a few separate points, one being that this statue is simply a product of our failed immigration model, from the past 60 years. We have a stupid understanding of how our system works and why bringing waves of immigrants from dissimilar cultures is a long term recipe for failure. Unfortunately the damage has basically been done in this regard in many ways, and there is no easy way to undo it. But since this is a political debate forum, it seems like an appropriate place to debate whether this is a practice we should continue down or not?

The other point you keep wanting to bring up is the “Constitution” and American values, etc which are both extremely subjective ideas depending who is professing them. As I said earlier the original architects of our country and Constitution would not allow such a statue to be erected and consider it an abomination. Maybe we should reflect on that some. Maybe they understood some eternal principles that our very stupid modern culture has no concept of.

Have fun with that one, burger bearcat... there is nothing you can say that yeahbut won't move the goalposts for.

Have a go at trinidadtiger... I think he's sincere and would be a good discussion. I'd do it, but powerbut's nonsensical hijacking has ruined my taste for it.

Yeah, I was posting this back during the h1b flare up months ago. Many people on here see no issue with this take over. There are some people on here that just don't care about the future of this nation. It's pathetic

Unfortunately the Trump administration won't do anything about it. Im going to go with the Nvida plants being throughout Texas will be full of h1b foreigners. Promoting investments here just to import white collar replacements is stupid.

even though it is in Sugarland, Houston was responsible for approving the permit

Sugar Land postal address, but the temple is actually within Houston city limits…at least according to the boundary lines on Google Maps.

There is a large and peaceful Indian ancestral community in Sugar Land (this isn't that recent of a development.) They're every bit as American as any of us are.

Would have been nice if they hadn’t binded together solely based on ethnicity and voted in that corrupt dictator wannabe KP George as County Judge.

There are 85,000 h!b visas issued per year, highly skilled workers.

Im more concerned about the 600,000 criminals that crossed our boarder and the 15million illegals with no skill set, and no language skills.

And most of those East Indians people complain about are US citizens, who bust their arses, and take a huge interest in their kids surpassing them in their endeavors. That IS American.

Point made.

We need priorities.

Without weighing in on compatibility.. I'd like to point out that so long as anyone is a hyphen-American, well... they aren't exactly fully integrated just yet, now are they?

Now we get into a chicken and egg argument.

Not so much an argument but an open question. Do we have hyphenated Americans because they want the distinction or is it because they aren't really viewed as Americans by others?

I'm all for assimilation. I subscribe to it. I can tell you from personal experience that it's not enough for some. I've been reminded of that on this very board.

Good question.

Honestly... I'd probably lay a good bit of the blame on the government who promotes, worships and rewards checkboxes.

Who openly scat on what being American even means.

Who teach us in grade school that accidents of birth are more descriptive of our ethos than choosing to be, simply, Americans.

Who assigns value to every special item you can tick off.

Yeah, I'd start there.

The 600k can be handled too.

My biggest concern is our culture being destroyed by evil idolatry. The OP proves exactly what concerns me more. And everyone knows that h1bs aren’t going to “high skilled” workers and highly abused.

Importing cheap white collar replacements is destroying our nation culture fabric. It needs to stop. Idc how much that hurts your feelings.

Not all religious faiths value individual liberty. Religious liberty and toleration is a Christian value, and you cannot maintain religious liberty and toleration without maintaining the Christian basis for it. You cannot have one without the other. This means that if you have a liberty-loving republic that has historic Christian roots, you cannot maintain that liberty by bringing in boatloads of people who embrace a religious faith that is either hostile or indifferent to the very idea of liberty.
