I believe, and this could be extended to other federal or state dollars received, that if you receive and food stamps (snap benefits) then you should be prohibited from setting foot in a casino. There is zero reason why a person who is relying on food stamps should be in a casino other than working.

All you have to do is require people to swipe their drivers license or ID, if swipeable. If it isn’t swipeable then you should have to provide a form of ID that is then run through the same database of individuals who receive snap benefits.

There is zero argument as to why you should allow a person into a casino to gamble money away.

I also believe that you could or should extend this to the purchase of cigarettes or alcohol. There is zero reason why a person should be able to purchase cigarettes or alcohol if they receive snap benefits.

As to this last one, I know what you’re thinking. They will just get someone else to purchase it for them. Make it a felony to purchase cigarettes or alcohol for a person receiving snap benefits punishable by a minimum of a year in prison with hard labor.

You could even include strip clubs and other adult entertainment venues that require identification in order to be granted access.

Possibly but it would also prevent fraud, waste, and abuse. It would encourage these leeches to get off the government dole.

Ive always been a proponent of the government subsidizing the taking over abandoned retail spaces and operating bread, rice, bean and bottled water stores instead of giving out food stamps.

And if you receive government benefits within 90 days of an election, your voter ID card doesnt work for the election.

Somebody loves some big government. I will go one better. Let’s chip everyone who receives government benefits. Easier to set up sensors at the doors to prohibited venues, rather than carding everyone who enters.

That's pretty hard to enforce. I'm all for it, but I'd rather start with the low-hanging fruit. There is absolutely no reason why food stamps should be allowed to purchase sugared sodas, or snack foods with zero redeeming nutritional value. That's such an easy fix to render. I would love to hear the counter argument to this. Why should people on welfare and food stamps that are supposedly in danger of starvation if not for government assistance be allowed to spend my tax dollars on Haagen-Dazs ice cream and Pringles?

You do realize people are fleecing is on a daily basis. The point is if you sign up for government benefits then you should lose your ability to enjoy places and things that are not healthy or shouldn’t be subsidized by the government.

I’m all for regulating what the food stamps can be spent on. I’d much rather the government cheese, milk and fruit stands lines.

I agree. Go back to giving out food instead of stamps. Give the necessities only. Waste is what is ruining this country. Not against helping people out but there has to be rules that must be followed. I once saw a lady grab a 10 lb pack of grind meat cause dog food wasn’t covered under food stamps. Truly sickening

Because Haagen-Dazs and Pringles have better lobbyists than you.

Don’t kid yourself. Wal-Mart is the greatest beneficiary of food stamps.

edit: although I do agree. The FDA should regulate what that EBT card will cover. I once got stuck in line at a convenience store behind a fat girl who was holding up an entire line for 20 minutes to make her purchase with an EBT card. It was 64 oz coke and skittles.

Abolish food stamps and other free shite programs entirely. It's time we stop funding the leaches so they can keep voting democrat, fricking up society, and shitting out kids that we have to pay for. If you're hungry enough, then you'll work. If you're too worthless to work then you can die and make the world a better place.

If you're a net loss on society then you can't vote. It'll drastically cut back on the gimmedat politicians that confiscate our hard earned money and give it to worthless bums.

Same goes for people that owe enormous amounts in taxes like that fat bitch running for Georgia gov.

I sincerely can not believe that some of yall think like this. You want to mandate what people can and can't do on their own time? We set up social programs so, as a society, we can move forward and help people in need. The vices they choose has nothing to do with their worth as a person.

And to the person wanting to abolish food stamps, you realize that statistically people you interact with on a daily basis and maybe even like and admire will be affected by that rollback, don't you?

I have always spent my time on the rant, and I have rarely ventured here but I am sincerely disappointed that I call some of you brothers on Saturdays and Sundays when the Saints and Tigers play.

Nobody on this earth is better than anybody else. We are all people with flaws and imperfections.

There are people that truly need help and I’m not against helping those people. I think the people that genuinely need it know they can’t afford to go to the casino or strip club or whatever. Then there are people that look at it as free money so they can spend it on whatever the hell they want. That mentality needs to be killed. Also, I think there are some people that don’t feel shame about it. That needs to be killed as well.

I’m with the guy who says take over the extraneous retail space and setup government stores to provide government food items to the people that need it.

Can you imagine how much money this would save? I’m guessing somewhere around $35 billion. I understand that’s not much in the grand scheme of government but it’s waste that’s being cut.

Why should I subsidize a persons flaws or imperfections?

I’m all for helping people who need it but I’m not for being taken advantage of because somebody has a gambling problem.
