Sarah has openly spoken against Francis. I don't see 2/3rd of the Cardinals voting for him.

No way, it will be a European, and more on the liberal side.....that's my bet.

2) Too old. I believe he's 80.

Remember who is voting. It's Cardinals. Some of them would like to be nominated for Pope someday. They don't want the new Pope to be in office for 30 years.

The next Pope will need to unite the Orthodox Catholics and the Roman Catholic Church. Settle the differences and become a united front is addressing the growing issue of Islamic expansion into Christian lands.

That has already happened to a certain degree, but the other Orthodox patriarchates will never fully let Rome "unite" with them as long as Papal primacy and filioque are a thing.

It's a non-starter.

I also wouldn’t mind cardinal Péter Erdo of Hungary. He’s 72 years old.

African pope won’t happen

The full court press is on though. Every commentary I have seen on tv today has mentioned the possibility of a Pope from the "African continent".

Cardinal Sarah is a dream pick, but it won't happen.

Agreed and remember too, Benedict was 76 and Francis was 78 when elected. I think that puts the late 70s are the current sweet spot for electability.

Don’t need another liberal communist that supports illegal immigration, LG&@T, and socialism.

That's funny. I have heard from people in the Catholic Church since the late 80s that it was only a matter of time before there was a Pope from Africa. African Catholics tend to be very conservative and I, as a Catholic, am hoping that now will be the time.

I'd want Scola but I'm afraid it's probably going to be Zuppi.
