“Give us your tired, poor…”

The poem attached to the Statue of Liberty reads-
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
It’s this poem that Biden used to rationalize and encourage invitation of illegals to come flooding through our southern border.
Bleeding heart liberals across the country applauded.
While the poem is a nice sentiment, it’s just that. A poem. It’s not a sanctioned document with any sort of power over our legal system of immigration.
And why would anyone want to invite the poor or wretched refuse to their country? How does that make America better?

Biden uses this and the phony "suckers and losers" while lying about his sons death, then he lies about "good people on both sides". His entire shtick is lie after lie after lie.

It doesn't say anything about gang members, murderers, rapists, or child molesters. Unfortunately that seems to be what we are getting.

And they all came through Ellis Island

The poem was not part of the statue's dedication. It was written by Jewish communist Emma Lazarus in 1903 as part of a leftist push for endless floods of immigration.
'your wretched refuse'
Yeah, we want the trash of the earth. Give us trash.

Bring me your pedophiles, your deviants, your murderers yearning to cave in women's skulls.

Ny is currently having a bitchfit because of the unchecked illegal immigrants being shipped there.

We should have stayed isolationist in WW2. Communism would be dead today and most of our current problems wouldn’t be happening

Exactly
And It’s a curse if you as me.
Any country that wants to thrive should have a healthy system of immigration whereby they try to take the best and brightest - not other country’s trash.

If Newsom doesn’t run, Trump wins and mass deportations are absolutely happening. I do not see Biden or Kamala beating Trump, but Dems will fall for a good smile on Newsom any day. Even Bill Maher, who’s basically waged war on the radical left, loves Newsom, and he has no idea why.

And they got a medical exam. If they had so much as the measles they were sent back.

Today's immigrants are not the same as yesterday's immigrants.
Yesterday's immigrants came here wanting to be Americans. They wanted to integrate into American society to the best of their ability. There was no safety net for them; they either worked, or they went hungry. The came here knowing the risks.

How many are living with any democrat that is fighting for the borders to stay open. AOC got any staying with her? Doubt it

Pretty sure those who gifted us that didn’t expect migrants to flock here to rape and kill college women on a run.

I'm sure the "unwanted people" of a country had far different meanings ion 1883 than 2024.

Whats crazy to me is we could be taking the smartest and brightest from around the world and really doing great things. Instead…..

It made sense when there was no massive welfare state, the country needed more people and the people coming had the understanding that they were to assimilate to American ideals.
That poem is now well out of date

Correct. A good example is Italian immigrants who came here after 1900. Their national pastime sport in Italy was soccer but they pushed their little boys into baseball so they could be real Americans. A lot of major league players in the 50s and 60s were Italians.
