How soon before China steals this technology?

Those ships will be manned by SE Arkansas duck hunters.

They won't have to steal it. One of ours will sell it to them.

When I was a child having my own jetpack was my number one dream. Number two dream was out in public with only my tighty whiteyd on trying to hide behind 6 in poles.

This video is at least 2 years old.

I would hope they are accompanied by cover fire from their own ship.

I get what you're saying though, these are useful tools but currently have a limited scope for good use. Catching an out-of-control craft more easily would be a big one (but I doubt that's happening at levels rating constant use).
Another instance would be at night when wind, weather and/or engine noise can cover the sound of the jetpacks (they are loud).
I think the biggest factor is their "coolness" but there's some niche roles out there they could fit into.

And to think we did all that crazy arse PT for no reason back in the day when we had them all along.

That looks really cool, but how practical is it? The marine's hands arent just occupied, but completely enclosed in the thrusters. He has no way to hold or fire a weapon when he's flying or within at least 10 or 15 seconds after landing. He's essentially a sitting duck.
Put the thrusters on his hips with gimbles and have someone nearby remote controlling it while he's armed and firing and now we're talking.

Royal Marines maybe. Ship is a British Royal Navy offshore patrol boat and in the beginning of the video you can just catch the Royal Navy ensign flag on the rigid inflatable boat that he takes off from
