Good question. I thought the investigation concerned only her personal financial activity and not anything to do with her official role.

Taxpayers paying for this personal mortgage fraud is a bit much.

I assume her angle is that she ain't ever done no wrong and Trump is just targeting her for prosecuting him so the defense interest is her actions as AG and that there is no personal actions to defend.

Of course she hires a white male lawyer, not a DEI lawyer

I’m not sure how the State of New York should be paying for her defense regarding allegations of intentional criminal acts outside the course and scope of her official duties as state AG. In most jurisdictions, she would not be provided with a defense.

And who is picking up the tab? If the taxpayers, should Presdent Trump seek reimbursement? Not from the people but the ones who wrongly charged and prosecuted him.

Lowell, a partner at the Winston & Strawn LLP law firm, was hired by the Office of the New York State Attorney General and not retained personally by James, according to the Times Union.

The decision to hire Lowell, a prominent white-collar defense lawyer, was based in part on the AG’s office belief that the bombshell criminal referral filed by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte earlier this month was directly correlated to the civil fraud lawsuit James’ office brought against President Trump last year, the outlet reported.

Im not saying anything to them, but I wouldn't hire the lawyer of someone that was was still in alot of legal trouble although his father was the freaking president. Having a client pardoned by their father isn't really the feather in the cap one would think.

If she’s found guilty, I assume she’ll reimburse the government.

Surely?

Is this more due process that we’ve been hearing about?

Just spitballing here....could there be a reason, or something that would show in discovery, that she would want a client-attorney privilege established with this attorney or law firm?
Might the state of New York want the relationship established?

This is another issue.

The same rabid jury pool that couldn't wait to convict Trump might have the opposite effect for her.

Is there a way the prosecution can have this canceled?

Also she should basically go straight to jail as Trump did not get any due process in his real estate valuation trial. The judge pulled a number out of his arse and then convicted Trump. That's not due process.

It’s just New Yorkers tax money. They voted for this. Let them pay.
