About the government/constitution they left us

quote:

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other
- John Adams

Given the immoral world we now find ourselves in, do you expect to see better results.

Just remember that John Adams advocated the Alien and Sedition Acts as President because the newspapers in New York were mean to him.

What was wrong with the Alien and Seditioun Act?

We would all live in a better society today if it was in affect still today

Well maybe if you are a degenerate or illegal then you might feel differently

They were a series of laws passed, and we should revive all of them except the Sedition Act.

quote:

The Naturalization Act increased the requirements to seek citizenship

quote:

the Alien Friends Act allowed the president to imprison and deport non-citizens,

quote:

the Alien Enemies Act gave the president additional powers to detain non-citizens during times of war,

quote:

and the Sedition Act criminalized false and malicious statements about the federal government.

Were we more or less moral in 1776 than in 2024?

They may have been the most moral and principled people to ever grace our government…….but that doesn’t mean they didn’t compromise and negotiate, even with others with whose morals and principles they staunchly disagreed. In fact that same negotiation and compromise is the only reason we even have the government we do today. Lots and lots of negotiation and compromise for days on end to create this government.

To hear people right now, they were cucks to have done that.

If men were angels, no government would be necessary.
-James Madison

The founders struggled with how much power to give the federal government to constrain the ambitions of the worst of us.

Seriously?

How could that even be questioned?

Unless you are a degenerate immoral person?

quote:

The United States of America have exhibited, perhaps, the first example of governments erected on the simple principles of nature; and if men are now sufficiently enlightened to disabuse themselves of artifice, imposture, hypocrisy, and superstition, they will consider this event as an era in their history. Although the detail of the formation of the American governments is at present little known or regarded either in Europe or in America, it may hereafter become an object of curiosity. It will never be pretended that any persons employed in that service had interviews with the gods, or were in any degree under the influence of Heaven, more than those at work upon ships or houses, or laboring in merchandise or agriculture; it will forever be acknowledged that these governments were contrived merely by the use of reason and the senses.

Immorality doesn't just come in the forms that exist today.

Slavery?
Burning of witches?
Child labor?

Man is the same now as he has always been. Imperfect.

All this technology and mind boggling advanced learning capabilities we have now, and apparently they were infinitely more wise and capable than we.

It seems like the wise and capable today want nothing to do with politics....at least in a serving capacity.
