Not the Bee:

quote:

In a Monday letter to the first lady, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk wrote that she wanted to “respectfully urge [Biden] not to allow the use of real chicken eggs for the White House Easter Egg Roll but to choose instead reusable plastic or wooden eggs — or even lovely painted rocks or egg-shaped balls — all of which would last for years to come.”

Such a move, the animal rights organization’s president wrote, “would make the event eggstra special for chickens and inclusive of all children who attend, including those who don’t consume eggs for ethical, environmental, or health reasons.”

“We hope you’ll agree that while families are shelling out nearly 70 percent more for eggs amid the deadliest avian flu outbreak on record, now is a hopping good time to hatch an Easter tradition that is kind and doesn’t prop up the cruel egg industry,” Newkirk said.

What if we use only eggs that were fertilized and aborted? They wouldn’t take away a hens right to choose would they?

Has PETA issued a statement on Fauci's abuse of dogs? Those are the type of issues they should focus on - and I think they would get a lot of sympathy and support for that type of advocacy.

They should use Thai egg rolls for the egg roll. They are delicious

I would have been on board with her if she would have used these exact words.

I didn't know there was a cruel egg industry. I have never met a cruel egg. Just fry them up or scramble them and then they all seem pretty tame.

I have neighbors that let their chickens roam...so much kinder and gentler and the foxes, coyotes, hawks and Great Horned owls like it that way too.

Next on the PETA hit list: “No more reading ‘Humpty Dumpty’ to children!”

(Never mind that the rhyme never mentions eggs.)

Anyone else wondering what an "easter egg roll" is?

You hide them in bushes and let kids go find them. Rolling them?
