Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty explained Wednesday why a fiscal policy analyst under Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s administration qualified for pre-charge diversion for causing more than $21,000 in damages to Teslas. The left-leaning prosecutor dismissed mounting accusations that she is soft on crime, and asked why the community wasn’t talking about gun control instead.
“If [defendants] go through the traditional system and they have a felony conviction on their record, they are much more likely to come back and commit a new crime,” Moriarty said at a press briefing. “That is because a felony conviction destabilizes their lives, they may lose their job, lose their housing and it can just lead to future criminal activity.”
“We are very much focused on public safety,” Moriarty said. “Now … there are some people who want people to have felony convictions. That’s fine if that’s what they want, but that is not about public safety.”

Unless it's a 19 year old woman who is not a connected state government employee.

That’s a pretty impressive reach

So, they are saying the Walz administration has a high risk of recidivism?

I would hope the feds would step in and charge him under the same laws championed by the left

Enforcement of laws leads to more law breaking. Who knew?

Didn’t the Feds used to use “violation of civil rights” to go after Klan terrorization of blacks?
Seems they could use that here if Minny doesn’t want to prosecute.

This is Olympic Gold medal level of mental gymnastics.

Time for Bondi to step in and hit him with a f*cking federal charge. That will mean he’ll have to serve 85% of any sentence before he becomes eligible for parole. And that sh!t will stick on his record for eternity unless some a-hole fricking Republican president (like Biden or Obama) pardons him.

good. stop breaking the law and harming innocent people because if you do the bone is your punishment. so don’t fricking do it in the first place and prevent others from even considering it

it can just lead to future criminal activity
he already committed criminal activity. if he can’t stop himself, keep his arse locked up then
I swear these liberal DAs and judges live in backwards world, they would rather innocent people be terrorized by criminals to make the lives of criminals easier/better

All lies and BS. The perp got special treatment because he’s a well connected, spoiled rotten Democrat operative man-child.

That’s called a deterrent.
She wants no deterrence. What do you think will happen to public safety then?
