You cannot have a free and open society with the warrantless spying of Americans. Today, the bipartisan vote to force intelligence communities to get a warrant was lost by one vote. In an effort to stop this, I requested a rare procedural maneuver that will force a second vote on Monday. Hopefully we can change minds. I will be writing all 435 members over the weekend. Please help me. Talk to your reps. We have one last shot at this.

BREAKING: It’s not over. There will be ONE more vote on Monday on a reconsideration of FISA in the U.S. House. The bill should be stopped because it lacks warrant protection for Americans - thanks to 86 Republicans & 126 Democrats who killed the warrant. #GetAWarrant

I don't understand. Luna voted to reauthorize 702 warrantless spy powers on U.S. citizens today.

If you were mad about your House rep voting to let the government spy on you without a warrant ("FISA 702" - fy-za seven-oh-two), we may have one last shot. CALL YOUR REP @ (202) 224-3121 and say "If you vote for 702, I vote to get rid of you."

Every time I see numbers in the no vote/absent category for legislative votes, my blood freaking boils.

They have one job.

Did that allow her to use the rare procedural move for a second vote Monday with how she voted today?

Almost certainly. It's pointless though since FISA passed fairly overwhelmingly. Unfortunately.

I cannot recall who it was, but not long ago during a very critical vote, the dims pushed in one of their reps in a fricking wheelchair that had just been released from the hospital, just to give them the edge.

Tell me again how the GOPe is anything but the controlled opposition wing of the Establishment Swamp..

I work 6 days and 60 hours a week on average and you pretty much have to assume I'm either dead or in the hospital or lying somewhere injured and unconscious if I fail to show up for work. Been that way for 29 consecutive years since I first entered the workforce...

So, these members of Congress basically work 7 months out of the year, tops, and still have to "call in"? We need the power to fire these motherfrickers on the spot for absence, just like they would do to us if they were our bosses. Yet we're the boss, and all we get to do is give them a performance review every 6 years... Let that sink in.

I thought Johnson was the tie-breaker?

She stayed at home because she didn't want to burn any votes later for a re-election. Wasn't planning on supporting it.

That was for the amendment, which was a gnat on the huge arse of FISA

I imagine this was one of those scenarios where members got to virtue signal a NAY because they had the votes worked out ahead of time. Like when Mary Landrieu vote against gun control measures when it didn't matter and they could protect her record for LA.

I don't know fir a fact, but it seems almost certain that Garret Graves voted for Big Brother. Can anyone confirm this?

That was Feinstein, I believe. When she was ill in 2023, in May, they wheeled her in to vote on some stuff. Later in July she was brought in and had no idea what was happening and an aide had to step in and tell her, 'just say aye'. She then walked into the Senate chamber on Sept 28 and said 'aye', and probably had no idea what she was doing, and the next day she was dead.
