I’ve got a question. If my great great great grandfather was in the Union Army and was killed in battle, would his descendants be exempt from reparations? He’s already paid for the cause with his life.

Let Wes Moore sign it

He is the only legit scary candidate the Dems can run in 2028.

(Shapiro is decent)

This type of thing continues to prove that nobody is serious about this. All this bill would do is fund a commission to discuss it. So they are going to create more bureaucracy.

A higher percentage of free blacks in New Orleans owned slaves than the percentage of white slave owners.

Paying someone for something another person endured 160-200 years ago seems to be idiotic.

They are looking for a way to satisfy and pacify. It will not have long term benefits.

This sounds like a money racket. Creates a commission to discuss... wtf so they are approving people get paid tax payer dollars to simply throw shite at a wall?

It's always a commission to waste money. The average 9 is not getting a dime.

How about, my family legally immigrated from Scotland and Denmark in the early 20th century?

Shouldn't we be exempt?

For a state that has a $3 billion budget deficit and has never seen a tax it dislikes, you'd think deep blue MD would have better things to spend money on. It would be interesting to see how much the 'commissioners' will get paid and, of course, how they are all DEI appointees.

No. It just means that the person who gets to choose the commission members gets to appoint their relatives, friends, or repay political favors with those cushy paying committee positions that don't actually involve real work.

No, frick that. Don’t give them the validation by asking for union exemption

On my maternal side they fought for the south. That does not mean any reparations 2 centuries later are owed by me

I will pay for a ticket to Liberia if they want to go
