There has been practically no effort to weed out fraud. How hard is it to filter by birthday? I wonder how many are over 110, 125?

Didn’t Detroit have people on the voting rolls who were supposedly 130?

It’s so ridiculous, pay into it your whole life, my dad died 2 years after it started paying him back a fraction then my mom got a “death benefit” of like 800 bucks.

It’s another way they’re just stealing our money, everyone would be much better off investing it yourself

Bingo. It’s theft by the government on top of taxes. We are left with nothing.

BREAKING: DOGE says it found a dozen people receiving Social Security — at 150 years old During Trump’s lengthy budget meeting with House Republicans this week at the White House, they talked about rooting out waste, fraud and abuse in the government — and the more than $1 billion a day in questionable payments Musk’s DOGE team says it is already uncovering. Among the findings: 12 people who allegedly received Social Security at the age of 150. “We talked about the spending cuts,” said Rep. Lisa McClain, a Michigan Republican. “We talked about waste, fraud and abuse.” Source: AP News Follow and turn on notifications @nerdraven_ for daily updates on news and politics!??

When originally enacted, the age for benefit eligibility was beyond the life expectancy at the time. It has always been theft.

Audit it to recover what can be done and prosecute any embezzlements and all of those on the dole.

Odd thing is a a family they most likely paid income tax as a joint return but as a surviving spouse they get a smaller payout. That is part of the Ponzi scheme

I say leave them alone. If someone lives to 150, they deserve all of the money they can get.

SS is the world’s largest and longest continuing Ponzi Scheme ever created.

Plain and simple, a Ponzi Scheme!

The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 had a toolbox on how to fleece Americans of their wealth, and SS was part of it.

As one poster remarks, by the time you get it,’many folks die not long after & their balances are reduced to a death benefit to the wife etc.

Nobody hardly ever gets their full money back over time.

And if someone is wise and saves money so they don't have to rely on SS for retirement, the Dems regularly propose bills called 'Means Testing' in order to cancel SS payments to any retired people who 'made enough money.'

150 years ago was 1875.

They would have been 60 in 1935 when SS started

So at most they would have paid in for 5 years...

Odds are they are illegals who bought numbers.

Oh, no question.

And if you (or your mom or dad) were the actual beneficiary, government might provided a self-investment option.

However, there is but one beneficiary of SS. That beneficiary is Uncle Sam. Your dad loaned Uncle Sam money in the form of SS contributions his entire working life. The loan was obligated, and it was on Uncle Sam's terms.

It's great for Uncle Sam. Sucks for all of us as obligated lenders though.

That was the plan at the start. Start at 65 and die at 66 or 67.
I started taking mine at 62. I was gonna get all I could before 66.

Truly dumb question:
Do spousal benefits get counted/classified under the earner?
IE- 75 year old marries 18 year old, dies, she’s 93 and drawing on the person who, by birthdate, is 150?

Because if so, I could believe there are 12 or so cases of such relationships. And I could also believe that many/all of them were to intentionally take advantage of this sort of situation (or some other inheritance/asset transfer loopholes).

But if that’s not how survivor benefits get sorted/classified, it would be nice to know who audits the program and how they miss such a thing.
