Another populist staple. Lie.

Most things "for the common man" end up costing the common man. Voters are addicted to shiny objects.

I've noticed recently that the anti-populist crowd has become sort of emboldened. And they seem to have a common set of talking points. First and foremost among these is the idea that MAGA is basically a bunch of weak, stupid, failures who advocate for taxing the rich.

It's quite apparent the nation has reached a distinct political divide.....you're either a Nationalist/Populist or you're a Globalist.

Being a Nationalist/Populist doesn't mean you're a hardcore isolationist, it simply means you support the foreign and domestic policies that benefit the nation as a whole rather than enriching the corrupt members of the US Corporatocracy.

Being a populist means you support an activist, big government.

It’s a cultural war.

For the desantis crowd, they turned him into the don’t say gay candidate. He would have been unelectable to the Democrats because of that.

It’s not about Trump.

Populism came to the right via Trump. If not for Trump, you folks would be against it too.

Basically Jeffersonians. But people are complex creatures. They are not in lockstep with what some of you call MAGA. Trump doesn’t even concur with everything some of you define as MAGA. You win elections when more people agree with you on most things. You should be able to disagree on some matters and still have the common goal of removing the Socialist scum from power. We should welcome all that want secure borders, safe streets and equal justice under the law.
Everyone that wants to help Ukraine is not evil. There are legitimate concerns about Russia. What frustrates me is when they are totally unconcerned about our border. I have no problem with those that want to do both.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

Populists believe in smaller , more limited government. Populists believe in a foreign policy which is non-interventionist. Populists believe in free trade to the extent that it is fair. Populists. for the most part, consider Climate Change to be hoax an international conspiracy to reduce population, freedom, and quality of life. Populists believe the government often engages in misinformation and conspires with corporations to limit free speech. Populist believe unequal justice is the rule of the day.

None of that is true.

Tariffs, for example.

At this point, it might be a helpful to be a little more specific.

Let's talk conspiracy.

I'll mention three commonly held conspiracies and the "traditional conservatives" can debunk them.

1. Climate change is a hoax.

We believe that climate change is a conspiracy to deindustriaize the West. We believe it is based on faulty science. We think renewable energy reliance is currently unworkable and lead to inflation and shortages. We also note that industry has aquieced to this to our detriment

2. Election Integrity

We believe that mass mail in ballots are a cover for cheating, with dubious chain of custody and limited signature verification. It isn't difficult to swing an election with back door mail in ballots deliveries.

3. Censorship

We believe the government and their NGOs conspire with tech companies to censor certain views.

There are three conspiracies that populists commonly hold. Please debunk the above misinformation

Thats not populism.

It can be part of populist beliefs, but none make one a populist.

Populism is just another version of class warfare.
quote:

Adopting this approach, Albertazzi and McDonnell define populism as an ideology that "pits a virtuous and homogeneous people against a set of elites and dangerous 'others' who are together depicted as depriving (or attempting to deprive) the sovereign people of their rights, values, prosperity, identity, and voice".[20] Similarly, the political scientist Carlos de la Torre defined populism as "a Manichean discourse that divides politics and society as the struggle between two irreconcilable and antagonistic camps: the people and the oligarchy or the power block."
