Getting ATT fiber at the house Friday, need to get reception outside. Recs?

So, I’m getting fiber installed at the house on Friday. I’ve always had issues outside just due to the nature of the way the house is built. All the routers/gateways are in the front of the house and I just have issues with the reception outside.
Finally have the outside set up like we want, so we’re spending more time out there. It’s pretty annoying coming in and out on the reception all the damn time.
What do I need to install to help get that signal out there. I know there are extenders and what not, I’m just ignorant on that end.

My Ubiquity AP inside my house covers my yard, my neighbors yard and their neighbors yard.

Get a mesh network. I have coverage from my back fence line to my front sidewalk with a middle of the road mesh network with 3 nodes. I am sure someone has a recommendation for a specific one, mine is a couple years old and I haven't kept up with the current offerings.

Which one did you get?
Also, do you need additional equipment to run it or will they sync up with the art fiber equipment.
I kind of looked at them real quick…. But, no clue what I’m getting into. They seem pretty in depth.

They're pretty easy to setup. You would need to make sure you buy one that comes with a POE injector

Same here...I think this is the first thing to try unless you want to run wire to Ubiquiti wireless APs.

Explain this shite like I’m 5.
Do you hook the mesh network directly to the router? Then install a separate node?
The only issues I have are in my back bath and outside in the back bath. The rest of the house is fine as is…

Again.... you people do not understand ATT......
They require you to use their shite Gateways. so setting up a mesh system isnt as basic as it is like with cocks.
You can set up a mesh system in AP mode relatively easy, but doing IP passthrough is more difficult and doenst always work. And setting up a double NAT is just asking for trouble.
if the installation allows, the best thing to do it buy an POE AP and run a CAT cable from the gateway out to the AP on your patio.

No, I do. I understand you have to use their gateway genius. I’m asking if there’s a fricking option to extend the signal out to my patio. That’s it. That’s what I’m asking.
If there isn’t…. Then there isn’t. Instead of assuming everyone is a gamer and works in IT and understands this shite just give an answer. If you don’t want to then don’t.
Like I said if I have to use their extender, I’ll get the damn thing. If I don’t, and I can spend $100-$200 to get something that works. Then I’d rather do that. I just don’t know what a fricking mesh system is and what that entails. I just need a WiFi signal outside so I can use my signal to play music etc.

So you have options. ATT gives your their gateway and you have to use that no matter what. However, you can disable the gateway they give you from acting as the router (aka the wifi/ethernet port producer).
What you can then do is add like a Google Wifi mesh system (their are faster ones out there but this one is tried and true) directly to the ATT gateway. Then just do the setup on your phone for the google wifi (or any wifi system you get) and then that new mesh system becomes the hardware that produces your wifi/ethernet signal.
Does that make sense?

I have ATT fiber 300 and am running TP Link deco mesh wifi. When they finish installing your fiber, don’t connect anything to the wifi network except your phone. Using the ATT app they make you install, go into the advanced settings on the fiber gateway and disable the wifi broadcast. Plug in your mesh wifi node, set it up, then add nodes as needed. The ATT tech may be able to assist. I had to do some googling to figure out how to turn the wifi broadcast off on the gateway, it’s buried in the advanced settings.

the OP can also pay $10/mo and get the WiFi6 extenders from at&t directly and they automatically sync up to the at&t gateway with no configuration.

So basically, you plug into one of the Ethernet ports and then that system (whichever one you buy) produces the WiFi signal instead of the gateway/router that ATT gives you.
The gateway is the still the main hub, but the WiFi is now handled/broadcast by another product?

What you are describing is how an "access point" works. Routing is still handled by the gateway and the new device is only providing WiFi connections to clients.
If you disable the routing functions in the gateway, you'll need to operate as a WiFi Router with your new equipment. It used to be you could save money buying access points (APs) instead of full blown routers. not sure there is much savings to be had these days as most of the wifi mesh equipment can operate as either a router or an AP.

cheap wifi repeater.... they kinda suck.
wired AP
mesh system set up as and AP or pass through your gateway.
and be careful, passing through your gate way can cut your bandwidth in half. I have gone through 6 gateways. Finally got it to work at 100% pass through. I believe the Oribi mesh system i had was a big issue. Some people get it working easily and others not so much...if you would like to dig more here is my thread from 2017.

really? i didnt have that problem with my unifi system. i mean i have att 1 gig and just ran a remote speed test and getting 631 download and 928 upload on my dream machine.
OP, CarRamrod does know what he is talking about and prolly the easist thing to do will be to run a wired access point to back patio.

I understand enough about ATT to know that they would have to pay me to use any service that they offer at my personal residence.
Regarding the speed thing....if other fiber companies allow you to get full speed to your router why wouldn't ATT???? Hell LUS used to have the same deal they required you to use their wireless gateway and it was plug, play, and check one box on the gateway settings to get a passthrough. They don't do that anymore I don't think (require their equipment), but still technically it is possible which makes you wonder why ATT can't/won't make it work.
Reason #3458 not to use ATT.

At the risk of boosting his already oversized ego I suspect if what he says about ATT is correct (which I have no reason to believe it to be incorrect)...then he is right.

What's #1-5? I'm looking for a few reasons to drop them and stick with TMobile Home Internet 5G.

quote:my unifi system works too. I have found it is manufacturer dependent. none of the netgear stuff i had worked well. Also maybe any firmware updates those gateways have had in the past 5 years have helped out as well.
eally? i didnt have that problem with my unifi system.
