I am looking for a portable projector to mainly use for work presentations, as well for outdoor events. Events are mainly in a tent. Trying not to spend more than $500 mainly because it will live on the road.

Thanks,

Daytime outdoors? Won't find anything worth a shite for under $800. rtings is probably a good place to start.

We use one of these small LG projectors at work and it's been really good. I have a larger 4k laser version at my house I have been happy with.

IMO, a $20 used 720p DLP will look way better than a new $800 portable but last time I saw a decent portable was a couple years ago so maybe something changed.

Semi related - close enough to not start a thread, far enough to not love hijacking one…

Any feedback on the cheap indoor projectors for casting Netflix/amazon? Have a room a tv doesn’t really make sense in but has a decent spot to project still. Was thinking for $100 or so bucks one of them would be fine enough for light usage?

They’re 50-500 ANSI lumens just like the portables. You’ll see a clear picture if you have a clean screen but it won’t be bright. 1200 or so ANSI is where images will look bright and clear during the night time. Need way more than that for any day time use, don’t know how many but my 2k doesn’t cut it.

ETA: mine is actually 2k/2700 low/high. I our $15 for it. I wouldn’t get anything dimmer than that. It’s an InFocus 116.

TI stopped development of DLP's years ago. The 720p chips are actually superior to the fake 4k they sell now.
