Going to fly in to Boston , spend 2-3 nights here doing the tourist stuff- neither of us have been.
Then want to get out to a couple beach towns for 2 night stays…
Thinking Labor Dayish timeframe….
Any rec’s on resorts greatly appreciated….$300-400/nighly?

I would do coastal Maine over Cape Cod
Nonantum in Kennebunkport meets your price range and you can hit several other towns up and down coast
Labor Day will fill up fast so you better book quick for any coastal towns in either place

Inn by the Sea
Would also pick Maine, although both places may be crazy Labor Day weekend. Maybe opt for a week later.
Inn by the Sea is great. Nice coastal Maine setting and a short drive into Portland. But be aware that they may have multi night minimum stays for busy times.

Camden is very pretty and quaint. Lord Camden Inn is nice. Lots of rental homes up and down the entire state. North of Portland gets more rustic. Enjoy!

Definitely need to book now. I’d rent a car from Boston and drive up to bar harbor. Get some e-bikes & do Acadia national park. Lots of places to stop at on the drive up. It’s touristy but fun.

My wife and I went a couple of summers ago. We spend 2 nights in Boston, then 3 in Cape Cod. We stayed in Yarmouth. If we did it again, I'd def try to find something beach front. Chatham was really cool, and had an awesome main street. We also hit a winery in Truro then went to Ptown to do a sailboat ride. Ptown is... interesting, but worth a visit. It's actually the first place the pilgrims landed before going to Plymouth. We also stopped in Plymouth on the ride from Boston. It was a cool little town

I was at Bar Harbor last summer. Beautiful, but you couldn't pay me to go back anywhere near Labor Day. The crowds were insane, and this was June and mid week. Just too damn many people for me to ever want to go back, and I say that as someone who loved the place a couple of decades ago. Maine has no shortage of beautiful coast line. Bar Harbor is the last place I'd go near Labor Day.

Consider Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket too.
Labor Day would be stupid busy but they don’t completely shut down to Winter levels until October.
Go a week or two after Labor Day

We went to Cape Cod last July - this is what we did. We liked it and in your age range.

Cape Cod was great.
We stayed in Harwich at the Winstead Inn. It was nice, but we'd prolly stay somewhere else if we went again.
Went to an Orleans game - nice park and it was packed. Literally, the first person I see walking up to the field is wearing an LSU shirt, so we talked for a bit.
We ate at Brax one night. The food was great, but it was packed and hot as frick in there, but it's because it was really hot that week and their little A/C units can't keep up.
Ate at Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse another night. My favorite meal and the A/C was working great. That said, a lady passed out in the main dining room and the paramedics were called, so had to wait for them to load her in the bus before we could leave. Interesting.
Ate at "Land Ho" in Orleans after the baseball game and that was perfect for what it was. Local spot that was busy and a good atmosphere. Had a cheeseburger club that hit the spot.
We went to Nantucket one day - it was great. Walked around, did some shopping, and had lunch at "or, The Whale". It was fine.
