Tipping etiquette at an all-inclusive resort

Going to my first all-inclusive resort in a couple months and I'm curious on the tipping protocols.
The resort has several stand alone restaurants, along with a huge buffet, as well as a handful of bars.
If everything is included how should I tip? There won't be proces on anything as far as I'm aware.

A lot of AI have a no tipping policy and I’ve read where some employees could be fired for accepting tips.

This is true. Most will have a tip out option at the end (sometimes it’s tacked on already) and the tips are spread amongst all the employees.

This was my experience as well. There were signs about this at the front desk, informed us when we filed out the paperwork, and there was a sign in our room. When someone in our group tried to tip a waiter, he immediately refused and reminded her about the policy

I had minor tipping anxiety at first all inclusive place we stayed, especially on day 1. It was a nice place in St Lucia. They did had an option to tip at the very end of your stay and allocate to who you wanted. We contributed at the end and were pretty generous since we had great service. But it wasn’t required.
Place we stayed recently in Cancun strictly stated that tips were included in the all inclusive price. No one ever brought a receipt to sign at dinners or poolside or beach drink service. That was nice not to even have to think about it. I did see people tipping bartenders with cash occasionally, but I kept no cash on me anyway.

Only all inclusive place we went to was a somewhat lower end place and the staff had no problems taking tips.
Our crew took very good care of the bar staff early and often and we were treated like royalty

Where at?
I've only done them in Cancun. The culture there is to take like $100 USD in singles and use them for tips. Dollar for a drink, few dollars for like sit down service, few bucks for housekeeping

Depends on the country. I’ve only stayed at an all-inclusive a couple times. In both cases they asked to give one envelope and it would be divided amongst the staff.

Have tipped the butler but it was also his birthday. Also have tipped at the spa, massage no happy ending. Restaurants & bars were no tip.
ETA, just ask when you check in if they don’t address the question first.

I will add that most AI resorts have a facebook page (if you have facebook) that are not "official" pages run by the resort. On these pages you can often find tips about restaurants, excursions, room-classes, etc... from guests and the tipping question is usually asked and addressed on these pages. Most AIs have a loyal following of guests that have been multiple times. These unofficial facebook pages are great resources for research.

If we have a bartender or server that works hard and hooks us up by brining our drinks to the pool, we will tip a few bucks. but we are not huge all day drinkers. also a few bucks for sit down meal service.
edit. only in mexico. most other caribbean locations will not accept tips.

For my birthday in Cancun (all inclusive), baw tipped the beach beer "dude" $100 on our first day. No idea if the guy was scheduled to work a four day stretch or not, but he not only showed up every day, he probably tipped out others working the beach based on service.
We had chairs, umbrellas, and beers ready before we got there every single day. I'll do that all day long.
Like in an airport lounge, slide a 20 over when you show up, and all of a sudden they start forgetting "rules."

Interesting. I've only ever been to one AI (Excellence Playa Mujeres). We arrived with cash broken down and ready for tipping. Nobody ever turned it down, and we actually had to hit the ATM on our last day to have enough.

AI I have been to in Barbados, St. Lucia and Jamaica did not allow tipping. We did tip guides for off resort activities.

I’ve only been to one all inclusive resort ever and it was in Cancun. You certainly didn’t need to tip but if you did you had servers falling all over you to get you things. Plus, it’s the right thing to do...they have families and they are working their asses off so you can play
50-100/day isn’t too much to ask
