Tennessee Walks Off Florida State In Wild World Series Opener

OMAHA, Nebraska – On a night when the electric Christian Moore accomplished an incredibly rare feat, national 1-seed Tennessee still needed an equally incredible ninth-inning rally to pull out a 12-11, walk-off win over Florida State in its Men’s College World Series opener in front of 25,499 at Charles Schwab Field.

The Vols nearly could not overcome their own mistakes and the relentless, collective hitting of the Seminoles.

But given the chance in the bottom of the ninth, they ended up pulling out the comeback victory by scoring four times, the final two crossing the plate when Dylan Dreiling’s shot into the left-center field gap scored Blake Burke and set off a wild UT celebration.

Moore hit for the cycle, becoming the first player to do so in a MCWS game in nearly 70 years, and he did it in dramatic and efficient fashion – completing the rare task in the bottom of the sixth inning when he sent a 440-foot rocket over the wall in straightaway center field.
